Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I've been hearing a lot about molting the last couple days. What age do they have their first molt?
Mine were fine last winter and we still got plenty of eggs. Seems like all of mine hit their big first molt right on the 18 month mark which happened to be this winter, so no eggs here for us. Well only a few anyway. Seems like the Golden Buffs are good about laying during their molts, none of the rest of my breeds have laid during. So we're planning on adding more GB's hopefully this year.

So you'll probably be okay on eggs this 1st winter, but next winter you may have trouble.

Seems like a good time for an 18 week update!

Eggplant - black ameraucana. Looks like Peppy did at this age, minus the giant comb.

Your girls are growing a lot! So pretty, love Eggplant, makes me want an all black bird.

Eggplant looks just like my Maleficent! Do you know when Ameraucanas start laying? I cannot wait to see their eggs!!

Wanted to show you all my fave little guy Jack, helping me get the babies in the coop for the night. He's holding Bratt (formerly lemon) the dirty Delaware :)

And I was so happy to see all the babies perching since they have been dog piling in a corner at night to sleep

Jack is too cute! So are the babies, not so little anymore, amazing how fast they grow.

@LynnEBC I am planning to do the same thing. Going to get some higher protein food to mix with their reg stuff to help them keep going through the winter. I'm also going to give mealworms raising a second chance. I ordered a bunch and the should be here Monday. BTW, I know crown molding is a head scratcher! It looks fabulous! Well worth your efforts.

Did the same thing as Lynn, bought some 20% feed and mixed with our 17% feed, also been feeding BOSS to the gang as well.

@lynn - sorry the quote thingy didn't work, nice job on the crown molding. Always wanted to put some up but heard it's hard. Nice job!

Wanted to share these pics with all of you since everyone is into animals. Went up to a friends house yesterday and we were visited by some wild turkeys. They were huge!

We have a friend staying with us and he just got a healer mix puppy, this is Trinity. She is 9 weeks and is getting an experience with four other dogs and 25 chickens. The chickens are very unsure of the puppy.

I love this shot and how Little One the EE and BR are curious but keeping their distance after she stuck her head through the fencing, I scooped her up after the roosters became a little more curious about her. Didn't want her to get pecked!

I had DH and my oldest son move the girls coop down a hill about 40ft from where it was, into a fenced off old garden area. They LOVE IT! It's dirt and worm heaven lol
(That small circular cage thing was an old chameleon cage I wanted to use for a compost bin)

Thanks!

Finally got the new feed out in the feeder and they seem to love it. Guess they can tell it is higher in protein? There were 3 eggs by morning, hoping this is a trend. We gone from 1 or maybe 2 eggs a day to 2, maybe 3 and sometimes 4.

Great pics! We've had one wild turkey around here a year ago. He or she was wanting to get in with the chickens. I wonder if they'd make a nice Thanksgiving dinner?

Love that puppy, so cute and the 2 dogs on the couch, adorable!

Looks like they are enjoying themselves. Lots of protein in the garden!

Thanks, hopefully this is a trend for you......:fl, wishing for more egg for you!

Since I am going to run out of feed before my next order comes in, I bought some 20% feed for the flock. I'll be putting it out today. Really hoping it gets the egg laying going again.

Now I'm dealing with a swollen eye on our lavender orpington. She doesn't show signs of a respiratory infection (no runny nose, no shaking head, eating/drinking fine) so I'm thinking she must've injured it somehow. I was putting medication on it yesterday and she opened it. I couldn't even see her eye, it was just red flesh! Hope she pulls through, she was expensive!
