Yes, but make sure it's incandescent, not fluorescent!

I got the email! Tracked it and it says they were shipped express mail and they are guaranteed by Wednesday at 3:00pm! There's no more information than them leaving Mansfield, OH...

Okay, so I'm kind of lost on what to do for the heat. I have the 250 watt red bulb from the feedstore, the only place I could find them in town. I also have some basic household cheapy 50/100/150 bulbs and two more light pink colored ones.

use the 50 or 100 watt bulb in a workshop clamp style light and make sure you secure it in a couple of places incase of a secure failure. I think this is right. lol haven't got mine yet but I have been reading and reading and reading, I love storey's guide to raising chickens, it is so full of very useful info.

P.S.

I am planning on putting an indoor/outdoor wireless temperature thermometer under the brooder light to see what tweaks need to be done to have temps between 96 degrees and 98 degrees

I'm trying out the 60 watt light pinkish/white one and it seems to be holding it at about 95 degrees. I have it in one of the heat lamps clipped to the side of the brooder and there's a thermometer stuck to the wall of it. When they outgrow this tub, I'm going to put them in our basement bathroom in some sort of big cardboard corral. I might see if I can get the hubby to make me something to hang the heat lamp from then, but for now it needs to be easily transportable for the first week and a half.

I don't think they're fluorescent, but it doesn't say anywhere. They are just the cheepy white kind of light bulbs you buy in packs of four. Which ones is it that's supposed to be bad for the chickens? I don't want to gas the poor things.

The fluorescent ones are the curly tube ones. They don't put off as much heat. I think what you have will do just fine.

Man, there hasn't been any updates in almost 24 hours since they left Cleveland... I know the post office gets behind, but c'mon, you know with a peeping box someone's gonna be tracking it!

Try not to worry too much. When my chicks shipped they didn't update my tracking information until 20 hours after they shipped. They might not update it until later tonight or tomorrow morning. It's really disappointing that they don't update it sooner than that...
