Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Nancy - Good to hear the updates on your chicks. I hope the little CW hangs in there. My EE's are dare devils too. When we were free ranging them the other day one of them decided to hop up on the fence and roost there, I was so scared she'd jump off into the yard and I'd never catch her, so now we're planning a taller fence. Always more work to do. (Of course the current fence is only 3 feet tall)

Farmguy - Look forward to the pics tomorrow at 1 week old. Pasty butt is so annoying, by the 2nd week with mine though they all seemed to do better.

I left mine alone for a full day today and a half this weekend, we left yesterday morning for my nieces wedding and just got back. I left lots of food and water and was sooooo worried, but they did great and were happy for the meal worms everyone gave them. They got extra since we all felt so guilty leaving them. My chicks are 6 weeks tomorrow.

Is someone getting chicks this week on this thread? If so...pics and status please? I enjoy checking this thread for the new chick reports and pics.

Picking up at least 16 chicks tomorrow from Meyer... We are under a winter storm warning, so the 1.5 hour drive may be interesting! This will be my first trip to Meyer Hatchery, super excited!!!

will definitely be posting pictures once we are home and settled in!

Congrats on leaving them alone! I know the first time will be the hardest for me. I had to leave mine today for 8 hours while I took my son back to college but my DH and other son were home... not that they even checked on them. But they were fine now that they are in the big box.

I would love to see updated pics of your girls. Are they all feathered in now at 6 weeks old?

Wow... good luck!! We're supposed to get some snow here in PA tomorrow too but it shouldn't stick to the roads because it's been to warm. I'm hoping the same will happen for you. Can't wait to see the pics.
What are you getting?

I will have to take pics this week before they start getting to funny looking at that awkward teenage stage!

Well it has been a ride to say the least. We had a lot of pasty bums so it was very stressful. I have raised chicks multiple times but I have never really ran into pasty like this. It was more severe than Im used to. Either way it doesn't matter as I have nursed them along..mainly a lil silkie named lucky!!!

He or she was rough but has really came to be one of the feisty funny ones. Pics to follow tomorrow so watch for those(im off work so kinda a play day with the chicks) But anywho they are all healthy and I don't see any weak ones really at this point they always feather quicker than I think, they are growing in there wing tips so funny looking on some!! Happy chickening everyone I have been away from the forum hope I can keep up with this post its been nice seeing everyones posts!
Can't wait to see the pics!! That pasty bum is frustrating but I lucked out with only a few bums to wash and now just Sweet Pea to keep an eye on. I'm glad the rest are healthy and growing fast!

I'm getting 5 silkies, 10 meaties, and 1 dark cornish roo... Who knows what else I'll bring home! I already have 2 barred rocks, 2 RIR, and 2 New Hampshires that are 2 weeks old!

Here are pics of my 1 week old Blue Ameracauna and Silver Laced Wyandotte, as well as my one day old Blue Orpington, White Crested Blue Polish, Silver Laced Polish and Silver Spangled Hamburg.

The Blue Orp has fuzzy feet, but other than that I think they are all pretty much true to form.

Coming home with me in 2 weeks will be a Blue Splash Maran, a Gold Laced Wyandotte, and a Columbian Wyandotte. (If I'd known while I was there today that they had a Spitzhauben available, she'd have been in my front seat riding home with me, too!)

Love love love the little baby chick puff balls on the polish chicks. They are so cute!

OK, so I just spent my morning cruising through this whole thread. I still have 71 days till my birds get here, and I ordered them on 2/20, I may just go crazy from this wait!! I ordered:
Rare Marans Collection Females
2
Welsummer Female
2
Blue Copper Marans Male
1
Easter Egger Female
2
to add to our existing flock of 10 hens which include 3 more EE, 2 BR, 1 RSL, 1 BS Marans, 1 SS, 1 BO, 1 RIR. With the exception of 1 each of the BR and EE and the RIR which belong to a friend the rest where all ordered from My Pet Chicken - which I read here is apparently the same as Meyer anyway lol.

I'll try and upload some pictures of my girls a bit later, as they are all on my phone. In the mean time I just wanted to say hi, and it's been fun reading all your posts and especially looking at all the pictures!

I went to Meyer's this morning for a pickup. Astantz, if you haven't made your trip yet, be forewarned that they have tubs of ducklings and goslings. They are super cute. I am in no way set up for ducks or geese, so I could resist. I did find myself wondering " How could I manage something like this?"
