I took some pics today of our polish chicks. I'll try to post this weekend.

Po is such a cute little guy. You sure Po is a he, I guess because of that comb, right?
Thanks, this new venture is a big learning experience for me. I hope none of my new 6 are roosters. I guess I'll find out soon. I guess I have 3 that I am sure are hens. I'll have to get some pics when we have a nice dry day to see what all of you think too.More because he's growing wattles already. Pullets just do not grow wattles at this age.![]()
They are so adorable, I love all their different colors. You make me wish I got more polish. Just wish they were not so fragile. That will be neat to get more chicks in a couple months. I've pretty much reached our limit now. We at first thought of just starting with layer pullets, but I am so happy we went with getting chicks, it was a wonderful experience and still is so much fun. Now if one would just lay an egg.I took some more recent pics of our meyer polish. They will be 3 weeks on monday.
This is the silver we will be keeping - Boomerang (the first day she ran back to us no matter where we put her)
These are the other 3 silver - Chipmunk, Marshmallow, and Mounds (Mounds found a new home today)
Our Buffs - Rue and Barley. Barley also found a new home with Mounds today. We're pretty sure Rue is a roo. We thought that from day one based on the lack of poof on the head and now he is feathering out MUCH slower. See, he has no head feathers to speak of and just starting to get tail feathers. Everyone else is already getting back and chest feathers.
Our White Crested Black and White Crested Blue - Baldy and Corny. Corny went home with Mounds and Barley. Baldy has a home waiting for her.
Our splash, Cloudy - we're keeping her
These are the 3 replacement chicks that have made it out of the 6. Cream, Oreo, and Cookies. We plan to keep Cookies and Cream (if she really is a she, her crest is almost non existent so we'll have to wait and see on her)
I wrote Meyer yesterday and told them about our losses. We wouldn't be able to get any more polish until middle of August so instead we're getting 5 assorted rare breeds. We'll post pics when we get them so everyone can join in on the guessing game!
How exciting... sounds like Red might lay an egg for you soon!!!Here are pictures of Red (RIR), Fred or Freida (CW) and Nemo (SLW). I think they will be laying eggs very soon, they're the reddest of them all. In person the combs and wattles look even redder then the pics. Red keep coming to me and fussing about something too and she was always hard to touch a couple weeks ago. I can almost pick her up now. I few of them are squatting too and all of them are fixing up grass and nesting outside. I can't see that they've bothered with the nest boxes in the coop though, so weird.
I did take out the chick brooder today from inside the coop and it was blocking at least one of the nest boxes, so maybe that will help.
