Yeah, but WOW are they ever expensive! Actually, my eyes are on the Marans more than anything, maybe an EE... But not this year, next spring. There isn't enough time left in my summer break to start up more chicks.

Agreed on the expensive part! I have my eye on the black copper marans, they had one available for one of my dates but I thought about it to much and someone else got it. But your right there is always next year and you best believe I'm not waiting last min again this year. My bday is in nov and I already told hubby all I want is a Meyer gift card (or his credit card I'm not picky! ) he is hoping so I can get supply's or something but I'm sure he knows what it's really for lol

Well, lucky for you, they opened up orders for 2013 in November last year, so hopefully they'll do the same this year. I'm really wanting to add some dark eggers to my flock, so I'm looking at the black copper Marans, the Welsummers, and maybe the Langshans. I'm going to try for some Dorkings again, too. I probably shouldn't get my hopes up, since I'm still trying to get a coop addition built to make room for the birds I got this year.

They had them open when they started taking orders for this year, but I haven't seen them available since I picked up my babies. The woman said something about a bad hatch or something.

yes, I think they are 22 weeks. If I'm standing near them and then move suddenly like I'm going to pick them up they squat. It makes it a lot easier to catch them!
