Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

wow I love it!! Be sure to send pics of the inside when you get it done. Are you doing an outside run or anything?

In turning a 12 x 26' horse stall/tractor shed into my coop. It has a 12 x 26' run too but I need to get it fully enclosed because that's how something got in and killed my hens. I need all the ideas for the inside of the coop as I can get

It's gonna be awhile before I can get anything done on the inside because my husband works nights and is on 4 days off 4 days and he goes back tomorrow night and we still don't have any of the materials. Plus he wants to put flooring down so its easier to clean up. And we all know how quick husbands get projects done so check back in the next year or two! Lol

I picked up my baby pullets from Meyers yesterday, the store was everything I thought it would be and MORE! Of course as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by lovely sound of little cheeps and behold there was a bin of chicks (I assume leftovers & late hatchers) for sale!
Of course my fiance realized he was in trouble as some mysterious gravitational force pulled me right over to those adorable little peeps! I ended up picking out 7 more little gals before I could pry my eyes off that darn bin. One of those lucky babies was a Lavender Orp! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her, I also picked up a Colombian Wyandotte, Deleware, Salmon Faverolles, Buckeye, Partridge Rock and a Buff Brahma. The ladies were so helpful telling me who was what, I was so excited I could hardly think strait let alone guess breeds. Oh I was in Heaven!
I picked up a 10 hole nest box and 2 transport crates, its amazing how much stuff they have in stock. My fiance even got brownie points, he picked up one of those Chicken Lover Parking only signs for me!
I also got to meet, Jess, the customer service operator that helped me get those precious little Buff Brahmas added to my order. She was so nice, it was great to thank her in-person. The cashier woman was great too, I love talking chickens.
It was a great experience and I can't wait to go again! Thanks Meyer Hatchery!

I will add pictures when I get home!

I can't wait to see pictures! I would be like a kid in a candy store, couldn't pry me away from those bins! I wish it was within driving distance but a 900 mile drive one way is a bit much

Turned out to be a 7 egg day!!!! And none from Izzy so that means I have at least 8 laying :)
2 BA's, 1EE, 1 BB, and 1 CM to go!

That's amazing... Lavender Orp too!!! I'm 7 hours away but I'd love to see the place sometime. Can't wait to see pics!

It's here! And my boxer Gavin LOVES it, he makes sure whoever goes in it gets approved by him first.
Just wonderful!! I'm GREEN with envy over here

That is the reason mine isn't done yet ;-) we have been in the house since march. It looks great though I'm totally jealous

I think I may just wait till I can get my BLRW.

BarredRocksGirls- did you end up loosing more today? & what kind of puppy did you get? My husband wants to get another dog but after having 4 and going down to 2 I'm kinda happy with just the 2 we have now.

Noooo we had one lose at about a week old - I think it choked? Another at 14 weeks she fell and broke her neck in a bucket ? A bunch of them were sitting on the rim. ;( and now this last one who we just found ... Taking a nap? And she had passed ... ;(
We breed Golden Retrievers and one of our darkest dames just bred her last time so we are keeping her daughter - she's lighter like our stud but its the Bloodlines in the dames history we want to keep going . ;) she's 4 weeks old right now and I just love having her and her littermates here running amuck haha the rest will all be leaving in 3-4 weeks as they are all already sold
Here's a pic!

I feel your pain. I've had chicks in the house since April. I left a thermometer that tracks the highs and lows in the barn so I'm hoping ill be in the 85 deg range so everyone can go out. My husband was sup to put a pop door in but now he doesn't want to cut into the barn so they will have free range of our fenced in yard which is a decent size but I'm not liking the fact that one of the doors will be open all day. My father in law owns the house next to us that he uses as a office so he is in and out all day & I only work 3 days a week from 10 till 4 so at least I have that in my favor.

One of my Campines hurt herself yesterday. When I went to put them inside for the night I noticed she had a huge bruised bump on the side of one of her waddles, and on the other side she has a scratch. It looks almost like she got her head stuck somewhere, because the bump also has a little gash on it. She seems fine and is eating and drinking. I worried at first that she may have injured her beak because the bump is right next to the back of her beak.

Sunni still can't eat on her own, and her tongue is still really swelled. She has taken interest in food again, but any time she tries to eat food it gets stuck just inside of her beak. I don't think she'll ever be able to eat on her own. I keep hoping, but the odds don't look to good.

My girls will be 15 weeks on Sunday, and I am noticing some comb an waddle growth in all of them except my two EE's. I'm hoping for some eggs some time in the second week of September.

NotableNancy: Congrats on the 7 eggs! I bet your egg cartons look beautiful with all of those different colors.

Wow, you sure have your hands full with injuries and illness. I'll take a pic of my egg basket this weekend. Its pretty, lots of shades of cream through brown. And a lone green.

Junior certainly seems like she will lay any day now. She was sitting in the nest for a while today and later taking possession of the entire poop board as her nest. BUT I don't hold out to much home for a super dark egg. I'm not sure hatchery cuckoo marans lay super dark eggs.

I've been thinking about switching my cuckoo for a welsummer or black copper. I already have a golden cuckoo on that order and I'm trying to get darker eggs.
