What a fun mix you have!! They are all so cute. I am especially jealous about the lav. orpington and silver laced polish. It will be interesting to find out what the unknown's are.

I'm working on learning how to make a perfect omelette. Anyone good at it? Any tricks to pass on? Mine are tasty but not exactly picture perfect yet
hmm.png

OK since it worked for you I'll do it... I only got 4 eggs today. Maybe that means I'll get 6 or 7 tomorrow? I typically am getting 5-6 a day. My BR didn't lay 2 days in a row so maybe she's working on laying a huge one for me tomorrow.
I'm still so surprised how slow to mature my BA's are. I thought they were quicker but I guess not. My girls are 22 weeks and they still don't look like they have full wattles/combs yet.
All my chickens are squatting except for two of my EE's, they both still run from me but Cleo, the clean faced EE, runs too but I know she's laying. She gave a nice large cream egg the past few days.
I can't wait until my blue/white EE, Mrs. Puff, lays. She has been sitting in the nest, squawking like Izzy does when she's about to lay but nothing yet. I do hope she lays a green egg. My egg basket is a bit dull with just all shades of brown and just one green. A new shade of green would be nice.

I thought my CM, Junior, was laying but now I'm not to sure. Her wattles and comb look like they grew overnight. She has been sitting on the poop board like it's a nest and if any chickens get near her she pecks them till they leave. She also squats and sings the egg song but I haven't caught her laying an egg yet. Not sure what's up with her.

Poor Daisy. It will be nice for her to have some new friends more her 'speed'. Hopefully they let her join their flock.
I add a little water to my egg mixture and get it super fluffy before cooking, not sure if that helps. Yup complaining helps!
Well folks, think I may have gotten a roo
sad.png
... See what ya'll think. Have it posted on the NC thread too...This is the SL Cochin from our April 22 shipment, so she is 22 weeks. She stands taller than anyone else and has larger/brighter waddles/comb. Does still cluck and hasn't shown any lovin interest in anyone else.

Looks like roo to me too!
A little update on us. Our BA hurt her wing. I keep trying to tie it up but she hates it and keeps taking the bandage off. I need to figure out something more permanent tomorrow. She was able to get in the nest box though and laid an egg today. Speaking of eggs we got a double yoker from our BR yesterday.
Amber is doing good still. She got two baths and still looks oily. Her skin is shedding and she is getting some pin feathers.
What's funny is the oldest three are sleeping on the floor. They lost their top roost position. Don't know if it's because they were gone or if they are just trying to stay with amber. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.
Sorry about your BA. Have you tried vet wrap?
We need to start a complaining thread... if you complain you get eggs!

So far today I got 5 eggs and I think one was from Mrs. Puff my whitish EE but unfortunately is a light brown egg
roll.png
If you really study it and push the description it kinda has some pink to it ... it's a creamy tannish light brown with pink undertones.
Basically it's brown.
I'm surprised because her comb and beard looks like Izzy's and she lays a pretty green egg.
My only hope now is BeeBee my EE with the black beard.
Also... don't collect lots of eggs without a basket cause you're bound to drop one.

Izzy and Cleo still seem like they will lay today so maybe it will be a 7 egg day. We'll see.
YAY!!! I hope my EE's lay green or blue too when they grow up.

It's here! And my boxer Gavin LOVES it, he makes sure whoever goes in it gets approved by him first.
Nice! Soooo jealous!!!!!!
I picked up my baby pullets from Meyers yesterday, the store was everything I thought it would be and MORE! Of course as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by lovely sound of little cheeps and behold there was a bin of chicks (I assume leftovers & late hatchers) for sale!
Of course my fiance realized he was in trouble as some mysterious gravitational force pulled me right over to those adorable little peeps! I ended up picking out 7 more little gals before I could pry my eyes off that darn bin. One of those lucky babies was a Lavender Orp! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her, I also picked up a Colombian Wyandotte, Deleware, Salmon Faverolles, Buckeye, Partridge Rock and a Buff Brahma. The ladies were so helpful telling me who was what, I was so excited I could hardly think strait let alone guess breeds. Oh I was in Heaven!
I picked up a 10 hole nest box and 2 transport crates, its amazing how much stuff they have in stock. My fiance even got brownie points, he picked up one of those Chicken Lover Parking only signs for me!
I also got to meet, Jess, the customer service operator that helped me get those precious little Buff Brahmas added to my order. She was so nice, it was great to thank her in-person. The cashier woman was great too, I love talking chickens.
It was a great experience and I can't wait to go again! Thanks Meyer Hatchery!

I will add pictures when I get home!
Oh my gosh, even more jealous!!! I want to go now too, but they're too far away!!!
Turned out to be a 7 egg day!!!! And none from Izzy so that means I have at least 8 laying :)
2 BA's, 1EE, 1 BB, and 1 CM to go!

That's amazing... Lavender Orp too!!! I'm 7 hours away but I'd love to see the place sometime. Can't wait to see pics!

Just wonderful!! I'm GREEN with envy over here
woot.gif
Awesome, 7 eggs. It will be a long while until I get 7!
Noooo we had one lose at about a week old - I think it choked? Another at 14 weeks she fell and broke her neck in a bucket ? A bunch of them were sitting on the rim. ;( and now this last one who we just found ... Taking a nap? And she had passed ... ;(
We breed Golden Retrievers and one of our darkest dames just bred her last time so we are keeping her daughter - she's lighter like our stud but its the Bloodlines in the dames history we want to keep going .
wink.png
she's 4 weeks old right now and I just love having her and her littermates here running amuck haha the rest will all be leaving in 3-4 weeks as they are all already sold
Here's a pic!
her name is Kimber
1f60d.png
Too cute, I want one!!!
One of my Campines hurt herself yesterday. When I went to put them inside for the night I noticed she had a huge bruised bump on the side of one of her waddles, and on the other side she has a scratch. It looks almost like she got her head stuck somewhere, because the bump also has a little gash on it. She seems fine and is eating and drinking. I worried at first that she may have injured her beak because the bump is right next to the back of her beak.

Sunni still can't eat on her own, and her tongue is still really swelled. She has taken interest in food again, but any time she tries to eat food it gets stuck just inside of her beak. I don't think she'll ever be able to eat on her own. I keep hoping, but the odds don't look to good.

My girls will be 15 weeks on Sunday, and I am noticing some comb an waddle growth in all of them except my two EE's. I'm hoping for some eggs some time in the second week of September.

NotableNancy: Congrats on the 7 eggs! I bet your egg cartons look beautiful with all of those different colors.
I hope Sunni improves and your Campine will be okay.
Awww, Kimber is adorable!

Wow, you sure have your hands full with injuries and illness. I'll take a pic of my egg basket this weekend. Its pretty, lots of shades of cream through brown. And a lone green.

Junior certainly seems like she will lay any day now. She was sitting in the nest for a while today and later taking possession of the entire poop board as her nest. BUT I don't hold out to much home for a super dark egg. I'm not sure hatchery cuckoo marans lay super dark eggs.
Looking forward to that basket pic!
I've been thinking about switching my cuckoo for a welsummer or black copper. I already have a golden cuckoo on that order and I'm trying to get darker eggs.
I've heard so many horror story's about buckets. Kimber is adorable, I love her name too! You plan on getting more chicks?
I've had one flip a bucket over on her and we could not find her for awhile, but did not realize how serious a problem buckets could be.

I saw clear snap apart egg cartons on the Meyer Hatchery website for .42 cents each. Someone on here wanted clear cartons, so I thought I'd mention it. I seriously need to stop looking on that website!

I need moral support right now, I lost 3 white rocks, a buff orp, and a buttercup over the last 2 days and now my precious little lavender orp is panting even though its not too hot in the brooder! I took her inside , put her in a nursery brooder with cool vitamin/electrolyte water. She stands or sits panting and keeps her eyes closed unless she starts walking or gets up :(
Oh I would hate to loose her! :'(
