Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Quick question everyone...

Izzy my green egg laying EE has always laid her egg in a nest. Saturday I found a green egg in the run Sunday a green egg in a nest and today, Monday, a green egg in the run.
Do you think she would be doing that or could it be my last EE laying in the run cause she's new and doesn't know what to do??
Obviously you know what I want the answer to be but I'm just curious if anyone ever had a girl lay in a nest for a good 5-6 weeks and then all of a sudden lay in the run (in the middle too not in a corner or anything). Thx!!

Here are the pictures that I took yesterday of the girls. (sorry the quality is bad. The lighting in the coop is terrible when it comes to pictures. I'll be getting some better pictures tomorrow or Wednesday when I let them out to free range.)

Sunni - (Buff Orp)
I absolutely love her expression in this one.

They're all so pretty but I love Annie and the pic of Lily is pretty!

I hope it's your second EE. Are they they same green color?
My first Brahma "home breed" success.
So cute, I've been wanting brahmas.
She's so pretty! oh, jeeze. I didn't even think of her doing something to my girls! There is lock human can open but not raccoons and other 4 footed creatures. Something to think about. I'm just hoping she was visiting for the day and won't be back as she said she moved away. We have a cam in the coop and in the run but it doesn't record, it's just for live viewing. It's pretty pricey to have the recordings done. If I see her again I will certainly go looking for her car so I at least get her plate and report her.
I hope she doesn't come back. I miss my old house (I think about it everyday) but not enough to act like crazy lady. I just do what everyone else does, I stalk the house when no one is home  I don't go when someone is clearly in the yard and I would never destroy their property. And so no one thinks I'm a crazy stalker my old house is in South Florida and I'm in southeastern NC now, I only get the chance to go back home every couple years.

LOL, that's my new motto... 'people are idiots!' Some people just don't think and others are just crazy. A big dog on the property is a huge help. A corgi that's been bit a few times by stray dogs (yea, mine) is just a big wuss when other dogs come on the property. Although he's a help with the fox and raccoons!
I think they all might be laying except for the buff brahma. I have seen both my BA's in the nest now. The only 2 I have never seen in a nesting box are my last EE, Bee Bee and my BB. But I think my EE is laying. Gotta get out there and spy on them. Just to busy lately.
My record is 10 good eggs and I have 13 chickens so I guess when I get 13 in one day I'll know for sure!!
Love that motto

It is hard to catch those hens in the act, isn't it.
That is crazy, I would get a trail cam or something there. The chick run & coop have a lock on it? I hope you don't have anymore issues with crazy lady. I have a idiot behind me who insist on carrying a gun EVERYWHERE he goes and has pointed it at my SIL a couple times. That is why my husband and I decided to pay the $1000+ to put up a privacy fence.
I'm sorry, poor Oreo can't catch a break. How is she doing today? One of the first times we let the silkies out after about 45 mins I looked up and there was at least 20 turkey vultures circling above.
Wow, I am glad we do not have a neighbor like that. Scary!

Oreo is back to her normal mean self, well to the other chickens anyway. She laid an egg today. She is one tough cookie. (haha and her name is Oreo) (sorry bad joke)

Turkey vultures? 20 of them? I'd be so scared to let them out again!!!
My first Brahma "home breed" success.
So adorable!!! I want to hatch some out with a broody one day, too cute!

Beautiful young ladies you have there!
my 3week olds enjoying the outdoors. EE, RIR, Sal. Favor else and meal maker-thinking buff or sex link.
How old are they now? That's a nice little outdoor area you made.

I bet another one of the EE's is laying eggs, check the coloring and compare the two and also check the shape for differences. It sounds like you have one that knows what she is doing and one that doesn't. I hope you find two green eggs soon to help you figure out for sure! My understanding is they usually will lay in the same spot and not go back and forth, but a new layer will lay in a variety of areas until she figures it out.

How is amber doing? I would love to see her egg also!
I figured my silkies would be mean to the Meyer babies ESP since 3 of the 4 are roosters but they seemed really scared of them. And I thought it was true about dogs and cats toughening the chickens up since my silkies were raised around dogs and cats and won't think twice about going after my 100lb boxer but after their reaction to the babies that are WAY smaller than them has me second guessing that
lol.png

Amber is doing great. Thanks for asking. She has lost most of her scabs and has tail feathers that are a couple inches long. Did I tell you about the puncture wound we found? I can't remember what I put on here. lol. If not... it's like she has a sunburn and is shedding her top layer of skin all over her body. I think it's the spray we've been putting on her. We were helping her shed this skin the other day and we found a puncture would about the size of a nickle and a couple inches deep that we didn't initially find. It's all scabbed up inside but I think she's going to have a permanent hole there. I can't believe she survived! We found a couple other minor wounds but nothing like that.

Our older girls are much more tolerant of newcomers now after seeing 3-4 groups of them. It's the younger girls that have to show them who's boss now.

We found an egg yesterday in the middle of the coop. It was our BR who has laid faithfully in the nest box since her first egg almost 2 months ago! I don't know why she suddenly laid it on the floor. Strange! I do hope it's your other EE though! I got my hopes up that it was one of our middle flock, but I checked and the only one ready to lay is the D'Uccle and it was way to big for her. Once I compared it to our BR egg it was the same size/shape/color except for a few spots on it, but she's laid those kind before.

I sure hope so but even if it was a light cream egg like I had a few days ago I'd be good with that for a little different color in my basket but I haven't had another one of those again. Not sure who laid that one. 2 green eggs/one day would solve the mystery.

Awww, crud. I still have my fingers crossed because I've never seen my last EE to lay, BeeBee, look in the nests yet. She and my BB really haven't been nosing around in there.

I hope it's your second EE. Are they they same green color?
Pretty similar in size and shape. The color is a little different and it's a little 'rough' rather than her typical smooth ones. But Izzy lays a petite egg, she's probably my smallest hen.

Yall are so lucky. I've had almost 0 luck with them. Chicks showing up dead. Dying the day after. Then sicknesses. And I take GREAT care of my girls but they are a mess. Got some comb problems. Silkie was born with a crooked beak. Rooster was mental, never really learned how to walk. He had a terrible crow that sounded like a groaning old man.

That sucks. I'm sorry for your bad luck. We had so-so luck also. But I love our polish that survived.

If it's a different shade then doesn't it have to be your other EE? Thought they laid the same color..

Is that Ellie in that pic? I think that's is what my EE is gonna look like. I'm gonna take pics this weekend (they will be 4 weeks) and let me know if she looks like yours did.

Have you ever seen any of the wrong turn movies? Every time I see that movie I think of the guy behind us. He is a straight redneck/hillbillies/hermit. Plus he sells drugs so we get some very shady people driving by our house all hours of the day/night. Lol I thought it was funny! The next month or so they were only allowed out if my husband or I could stand out there and watch them but after that one time we never had a problem again. My husband was out there with me the day they were circling and the 2 or 3 mins it took to gather up the chicks the vultures were dropping even lower. When the chickens are out they hang out under the deck most of the time ex if its raining then they stand in the middle of the yard ( I'm such a proud momma  )

I didn't know about the new wound you found. I'm glad she is doing better, hopefully it won't be that big of a hole. My polish are pretty brave, they both went up and tried to peck at one of my Roos. I can't wait to get the other 2 I have coming in sept. They are prob my fav breed now, they have been a lot of fun.. Did you ever find out if your splash is a roo?

I don't think the splash is a roo. They are old enough i think it should be obvious by now.

So cute! Love your hen. So happy that I ended up getting some light brahmas in my last shipment. Congrats on the home bred. I bet that is a fun experience!

I'm sorry your luck has been so bad. Mine hasn't been so great lately either. Lost ALL 20 of my babies to something and had quite a few losses in my last shipment. I'm hoping that both of our lucks improve!
