Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Does she have feathered legs? Brahmas are feather-legged and Wyandottes are clean-legged.

There is my answer :) they are feather legged. There are pics of them below.

...

There are a few girls that weren't cooperating for their photo this morning. It's so much fun watching them and their personalities.

Glad I could help. :) Your girls are looking great! Love the frizzled frizzle! :D

Lucy laid an egg this morning, and Lilly's gone. :hit While I was in the house feeding Sunni, and pair of hawks came and tried to get my girls. I saw one fly away when I went outside. I put Sunni in the coop and could only find 6 of my 23 chickens. I looked and looked and found all but one in the un-mowed grass around our property. Lilly in nowhere to be found. :hit Im going to go out and sit in the yard with a BB gun and see if she'll come out of hiding. I know those hawks will be back.

I think we are going to just be done free ranging and just make them a covered run. Those hawks have been swarming my barn for weeks now. Their nest is in the woods behind our house, so I don't know what to do to keep my chickens safe.

I really hope Lilly is okay. I hate to assume the worst, but it's not looking like she'll come back. My other chickens were in shock, so something bad happened while I was in the house... :hit The only trace of Lilly I found was 3 little black feathers, and a grey hawk feather next to them...

Aw, I'm so sorry! :/ I hope she comes back! Did you find her feathers all over the place? Usually if a chicken has been caught by something, the feathers fly!

I'm so sorry MsChickenMomma, I've lost 4 hens, one of my two BCMarans pullet, and one of my turkeys in the last week because of a weasel. I'm attempting to trap him but they are super smart. If its possible to put up a net, I would. That or SSS...if you know what I mean.

My husband and I are currently living in the farmhouse on the main farm. He works for the largest beef cattle operation in SE Michigan. I help out when I can but I work off the farm in town. My big coop is a mobile setup so I just move it when I run our of grass. There's a couple hundred acres for me to choose from once crops are harvested. My 8×8 brooder coop has a 12 ft × 6 ft run for the babies once they're old enough to go outside.
That is a lot of land, you're very lucky! That's so neat that you can move them around to fresh grass as needed.

These r my 4 1/2 week old babies from Meyer. Ordered all sexed female, looking like one of the 3 is wrong, but that's ok.
This is Aphrodite, my Buff Orph

Cute, I hope they're all girls. Will you keep the one if it is a rooster?

Cindy, Lady and Sunny the three faverolle girls. All three are quite different in shade color

I love my little Salmon Faverolle, Sally. I didn't realize that they could have such variations of color. The one I had before was really light, kind of like your one on the right. Sally is much darker shades of brown and is turning out so pretty.

Lucy laid an egg this morning, and Lilly's gone.

I hope Lily is still out there somewhere. Mine hide very well when hawks are nearby and I have trouble finding them.

We have 2 to 3 owls nesting nearby and lately a few hawks as well. I keep watching them on and off. Yesterday something happened to mine too that scared them and I did see a huge hawk. I did find everyone, but it was still scary. This free-ranging thing is so scary, I have mixed feelings about it too.

I hope she is out there safe and sound and you find her soon.

Im sorry about your about your hens and turkeys. :hugs I hope you can catch the weasel soon. I had the same thing with two giant raccoons last year. They were hard to catch. We caught one and thankfully our neighbors accidentally hit the other in their driveway. I lost two hens to those coons.

Thank you :hugs I hope I find her too. My other chickens were all very well hidden. It took me an hour to find all of them. I keep hoping Lilly is out there somewhere. Im going to go out now and sit in a lawn chair with a BB gun and wait.

Oh no, I'm so so sorry :-( I hope she is just hiding somewhere

Wow, that's a lot of losses. I hear those weasels are super hard to catch. I hope you get it soon.

I only found 3 feathers..

I don't know where she could be. I've checked everywhere.

Oh no, I'm so sorry. I so hope she turns up. She may just surprise you.

The hawks haven't come back, and neither has Lilly. It's been 3 hours since the hawk attack. I found 7-10 more black feathers near where I found the other 3, which doesn't make me feel any better. I don't think she's coming back... :hit

I don't know where she was, but she's back!! :weee I was out in the coop with the girls and I heard a chicken talking on the other side of the little coop door. I opened it and there she was! She came racing into the coop and ran straight for the food dish. I can't believe she stayed in hiding for so long. She must have been so scared! Poor baby... :(

I started a thread in Predators and Pests, and someone told me Annie and Alice (the leghorns) are what caught the hawks attention. So I don't think I'll ever be able to free range my chickens without supervision as long as I have those two.
