Oh how cute they must be! I want to build a completely separate coop and run and have a few banties but then again I want to start breeding BLR Wyandottes too... Oh boy, so many ideas and so little time!

I've gotten behind on this thread, we've been busy and went out of town for a few days. That is a beautiful shelf, I love it! I love the red too, really gives a pop of color! You're so creative.
I was thinking about separating her once it warms up and maybe she would lose ranking. Sounds like it did not work for you though, I hope that it works for her. Thanks!
Thank you!
I used to have a hen that would beat up the younger girls. I kept hoping she'd get bored and stop, but she never did. I even tried seperating her from the flock after she gave my Leghorn a big bloody spot on her comb. Even that didnt work. I guess some chickens are just naughty.
Congratulations on all of the new layers!! You have such a nice variety of colors now.I keep hoping my Ellie will start laying again soon so that I can have some blue/green eggs again. But I don't think that'll be happening any time soon since we are moving in less than two weeks. Change always seems to make my girls stop laying for a while.![]()
Beautiful!
Great job!
They are cool looking. That's neat that you can get them at the feed store. I don't think we have many varieties near us.If I order chicks from my local feed store they get Cream Brabanter chicks... has anyone ever seen/had them? They look adorable and lay white eggs which I don't
have any of so that would be nice. Everything I've read says they are really great chickens to have! They have beards/muffs like an EE and a little poofy head a bit
like a Polish Crested!!
I tried to put a pic up but it won't work...
here's a link and scroll down to the Cream ones (there's gold and other colors as well) if you want to check them out.

Agreed! They'll drive you crazy don't they? I have been going through this the last few weeks. Mine seem to make a fuss from one week to 3 weeks before they actually lay an egg. So should be soon!Oh my goodness! Waiting for that first egg is almost as bad as waiting for the post office to call saying your chicks have arrived. I'm going crazy. My Dellie was pacing like crazy today. My husband compared her cries to that of seagulls scavenging for food. I hope this means we are getting closer.
Wow, I should never get more then 22 eggs in one day, so that seems like a ton of eggs to me. Congrats!
That is great, I'm excited for you! I bet they'll look so tiny when they hatch. We have never had bantams before. I hope your incubator does the job well.Wow that's a lot of eggs! Maybe one day when we get some land I'll be able to take a pic like that!
I'm so excited. I'm leaving for UT tomorrow and just found someone on BYC that has bantam olive egger eggs. I fired up my incubator tonight so it can be ready when I get home.
My daughter is going to be thrilled. We were just discussing today that since we expanded the run and gave more space in the coop we could actually get another LF chicken and were talking about what we want. She said she still wants a bantam EE. She has mentioned before that she wants an olive egger so I think she will be happy about this.
Fingers crossed the incubator works right since I'm not going to be able to do my trial hatch first.
Nice coloring there!
Well, we'll probably try to give some away but we may have chicken dinner too. That's fantastic!!! You have a wonderful variety of egg colors and sizes and they look great on the skelterI like your plan. That's pretty much what I want to do as well. Mine will be 1 yr in March so if I add 4-5 this spring, starting next spring maybe I'd get rid of a few and just add 4 every year. There's a few I will never get rid of but others I don't have an attachment to. Believe it or not, Pipsqueak is turning into quite the bully. She picks on Izzy all the time but Izzy is pretty much of the bottom of the pecking order and is afraid of her shadow. She's always squealing and jumping into the air!
Have you decided how you are going to 'rotate' some of them out? Give them away or eat?
I hope that's Greta's green egg cause my Cleo has the noodle comb and lays a cream egg.
Wow, that's horrible. Were the in-laws there when it happened? If so, then they just don't care that it happened. Maybe they think they're "just chickens' and it doesn't really matter what happens. I don't have any advice except for when it comes to relatives you just have to suck it up and lock up the chickens and dogs when they come. Maybe someone else has been through this and can give suggestions.
That's so cute!! Vey clever. Is that an egg timer on the left? It looks like mine but mine is yellow.
Great job!! Do they like it?
MsChickenMomma - CONGRATS on the pic/story of the week!! That must be fun seeing her on the home page!!![]()
That's awesome!!! Bet you never thought you'd see so many eggs in one nestSo we left them alone overnight and for a full 24 hours, so when I went to check for eggs around 3pm today, this is what I found. I had already brought in 6 yesterday morning and Mini my other leghorn was laying one more and sitting on another. So it was a total of 21 in two days. I have discovered that Mini is my mystery white egg layer and also I have another new layer, my SF.
Sally, my Salmon Faverolle laid her first cream colored egg yesterday, she was in the nest box when we left yesterday morning and I was hoping she'd lay one. It adds another color to the basket. Hers is the bottom one and it looks almost white in person, the picture makes it look darker.
I still need to catch others in the boxes to narrow down who is laying what. Not that it matters, but it's fun to figure it out and it gives me lots of breaks from work since I work from home.
Okay, I found a new breed I want, someone on the EE thread was talking about a Favaucana. My pet chicken has them:

I so need one of these. Actually, I don't I have way too many chickens, but I so want one of these. In the future.....I am obsessed I think.![]()
