Nice! That would be great and since they are so close you can check them out before too. You can send some of that snow over here, still none this winter for us.

Great pics and cute chickens!
I don't know why this just wouldn't quote your pics of the skelter and the chicken on your shoulder... anyway... can you believe a couple weeks ago you were barely getting enough eggs to feed yourselves? I agree .. another skelter is in order!! My Henrietta, BR, flies onto my arm/shoulder all the time too. I love it! She's the only one to do it. They're so funny how they have different personalities. All the other chickens look up at her chattering away saying, "what the heck are you doing? You're a chicken, have some dignity!"
Your egg colors are stunning!!! Is Sally laying yet?
Are you getting snow today?? I thought I saw on the weather your area is getting hit. We're in a heat wave today. 40 degrees!!! First and last day above freezing this week but I'll take it!!!

Yes that is awesome! I can't wait to see the birds you get from them!

Not too many chickens... just need another skelter. ;)

I put my order in for 2 Leghorn, 2 Silkies (def 1 white and either buff or splash) and 2 Lavender Ameraucanas!!! But she may not have the Ameraucanas. We'll see. I may change one of the Leghorns to a Salmon Faverolle or add a Faverolle of they hatch

She has some great breeds and I'm going to make an app't to go see her set up. She seems to have great bio-security and doesn't want people just wandering around the chickens so you have to make an app't. I like that.
Silkies aren't sexed of course so I'm taking a chance on getting a girl but she'll take any rooster back if it happens so that makes me feel better. I also found out she'll take any unwanted chickens/roosters at all! She can't guarantee what will happen to it, she says either lawn ornament, breeding or food for someone else but at least it would have a chance.

Some of my chicks from Meyers Hatchery: 1 EE, 1 RIR and 2 Barred Rocks and one pink shoe they like to peck
LOL, cute chicks and pink shoe.

It was almost 60 here yesterday! Now it's 15 and snowing but by wed we should be back up to 60. It feels like spring already. It's going to make the late winter I'm sure we'll have even worse after teasing like this!

I'm glad we expanded our run for the girls. They look so much happier in there when it's snowing out. I just throw them some kitchen scraps and they are happy to scratch around in the straw for it.

I'm getting a batch of eggs to set on Thursday! It will be a surprise dozen of all sorts of breeds. She has super blue egg layers (I think she said it's a cream legbar over an americauna), blue and lavender americaunas, gold and red blue laced wyandottes, easter eggers, silkies, and I don't remember what else. I hope the post office treats them nice so I'll get a good hatch rate. At least the weather should be cooperating.

Oh how fun!! Where are you getting the eggs? Maybe if I get a broody Silkie (which from what I hear is pretty likely) I can hatch eggs some day!! And now that I have a place that will take roos, I would feel better about it. Can't wait to see what happens. If forget... is this the first time hatching?

I'm getting them from a lady here on BYC that lives in TX. She's shipping out today to miss the freeze they are getting. They should make it here on our nice day so hopefully it will work out perfectly. This is a first hatch. I'm hoping for at least 50% since they are shipped. Hopefully we'll get at least something!
The local eggs I can get aren't ready yet so I'll do those on the next hatch.

As for roosters, for those of us that don't have a neat place like you do, if you sell them cheap you can usually get rid of them on craigslist or at chicken swaps.

Thanks, I love all the colored eggs too. Sally started laying this past week. A very light creamy, almost white little egg.

It is fun all the personalities for sure. They are actually calling for snow here tomorrow which is hard to believe since we are getting up to almost 60 today. I'm airing out the coop for them today and letting them have all day in the garden since the bad weather is coming. We may have snow tomorrow and Wednesday.

This weather is crazy this winter! You never know if it will be hot or cold day to day. Today feels like Spring here too. How big total is your run now and how many chickens do you have? You probably said before, but if you could refresh my memory.

Yay on the eggs, I'm glad you are getting some finally. Nice selection, so jealous!

You'll have to let us know how they survive the trip and post pics. I am so curious, I want to hatch someday too!

I wish I had someone close by like Nancy that would take the roosters back, that is awesome. Saves a lot of worries.
