Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

He is very cute. He has impressive comb already. Just be careful that the dog doesn't get too excited about the chick, there are SO many death/injuries of birds due to interactions between them and other pets.
Ya I totally understand. I put the rooster down for a sec to take a pic and the dog jumped up so I grabbed the baby and put him away. Thanks for your concern

No problem, I just see a lot of people on here that would never consider the notion that their beloved furry pet might ever hurt their feathered ones, until after something bad happens. I just try to spare some heartbreak even if I have to hurt someone's feelings.

Good luck with your little guy, he's going to be a looker;)

Chicken math is horrible stuff!
I have 4-8 eggs ready to hatch this friday, just put an order in at a local feed store for 12 chicks to pick up on friday, and I'm getting at least 2 dozen eggs from local people on friday to put in the bator! I only have room for 3-4 more chickens. Oy!

I'm getting 4 EE's, 4 white frizzle bantam cochins, 2 D'Anvers, and 2 SLW chicks from the feed store. Most of these will be sold locally but we may keep 1. The eggs I'm getting are 12 silkies and then a mix of bantam cochins, Iowa Blues, Marans, and possible a Lakenvelder and Austra White.

I really need to get on it and build a grow out coop.

Chicken math is tough! It's a good thing I am in the city now and have a limit to how many I can have. Otherwise I think I would be drowning in chickens.

Yea, I never would have thought our dog would attack our chickens, but after what happened with Sunni, I don't let him anywhere near any of the girls anymore.

thanks and my other rooster that died was beautiful. We picked barred rocks for a roo after looking at several full grown breeds and thought they were a very pretty bird we have 4 BR hens

Did you see they have cream legbar now
How much? I'll have to go on and check it out.

Update: Wow! $49! Not worth that. I could get a dozen legbar hatching eggs for that!
I am kinda glad the price is too high right now..I need to limit my temptations!

Jubilee, blue, and lavender orpingtons, olive eggers, cream legbars, variety is looking good! I kinda wish they had more options with bantams though..
Nice. I have not tried bantams yet. Maybe in the future

Agreed. They are definitely my favorite hatchery and if you didn't have the means to do eggs, it's nice to have an option.
Agreed here too. By the way, I love your new avatar. That's a beautiful polish!

my 3 week old rooster from Myers looks like they got it right look at his crown growing
Can't wait to see what he looks like grown up. Cute!

Whent out to collect eggs and I got a broody it a brown Leghorn so I left them I as thinking she was because I've been seeing her on them for about 3 days I am curious if she will stay and what they look like got a pbr bantam roo the eggs apear to be from my SSH and nit sure if it a Leghorn or a pbr bantam egg only 2 in nest they might look neat if hatch
I didn't realize brown leghorns were the broody type? That's neat. I can't have any new chicks and do not have a rooster, so I'll do my best to break any broodies we get here. It'll be a fun little experiment for you!

How much land do you have?

The warm weather is on it's way here, the girls are laying a ton of eggs. Seems they are ready for Spring as much as I am!!

We have one bantam and love her. We're probably going to add 2-3 more.

Thanks. That's a Meyer Polish. :)

We only have 1/5th of an acre smack dab in the middle of suburbia. We are only allowed 8 chickens but will probably end up with 10-11 but 3-4 of those will be bantam so they only count for half a chicken, right? ;)
