Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Oh my goodness. It is tempting isn't it. Nope...no it's not. (Trying to convince myself) all the while with the bator going and an order coming in May! What's wrong with me? Or us for that matter?? LOL!

I don't even want to look but I can't help it. I asked for credit back for the chicks that died. I can't get 15 replacements right now when we have 20+ eggs looking to hatch in less than a week. lol
Must resist. Ok, I couldn't resist. Luckily it wasn't any breeds I couldn't live without. Lots of ducks!
I almost went into a farm store that's not near my house on my way home the other day and had self control. Someone on the CO thread asked if anyone would split an order from a hatchery with her to meet the 15 minimum and I had to say yes. After all, that would replace my chicks that died and help out a local chicken keeper. Luckily I helped her out by finding the breed she wants at a local feed store instead! Phew!

We moved all 22 chickens today. Over half of them we moved throughout the afternoon since they are nice and do not mind being picked up.

The last 9 we just moved now. I never realized how crazy Golden Campines were, maybe it's just ours but she screamed the whole way to the new coop. She was so loud! They're all in there though and my husband helped a lot with moving them.

My son and daughter helped move the run today too, we still have a lot of work, but the coop is done and they are in it. So glad that is over with, they'll just have to stay in the coop until the run is ready for them.

I now have a camera in there too!!
You must be relieved that job is done. The Campine may be loud but I've heard that means they would be really helpful if there was a predator around. Just trying to look on the bright side

You will love the camera. I'm always checking them out especially if I'm bored waiting in line at the grocery store.

My poor Olive. She hasn't been eating. Going to try worming her today. I left her some veggies before work, hopefully she will eat something. Hubby is talking about eating the bad girl that attacked her. If she continues to be mean, she's going into the freezer.

The eggs look good and the bator is holding steady. My next batch are arriving today. I guess I have to let the secret out!! Lol!
I hope Olive is feeling better tonight!

Did any of you see the huge amount of breeds Meyer has available to ship right now? Gosh I would be tempted if I didn't already have my order for the 24th.
Wow, you're quite the enabler

What are you getting the 24th? Sorry if you already said, I don't remember

I couldn't help myself :D

And I help my mother worm her birds twice a year with Valbazen, they have a bunch of barn cats and tape worms among other nasties can easily get transfered to the birds. The 14 day withdrawal stinks, but I can always incubate those eggs so they don't go to waste. I catch the bird, Mom holds it, and I draw the correct cc dose and syringe it down the birds throat. Its not hard, just a bit messy if you don't get the syringe far enough into their mouth. We got her 20 birds dosed in about 20 mins, so about a minute per bird, chasing included. I like to do it in the morning before they are let out for the day and then they get a yogurt treat for being good girls :)

We do a natural preventative of squash seeds for worms.

Here is the EE bantam we have decided to keep. I'm pretty sure she's our only girl left (no ridges showing on her comb compared to the other two that do). She's sleeping on my lap right now. :)

WOW! I'm thoroughly impressed. You did great. Not sure I would have done so well.

I would like to hear more about these squash seeds. I love the natural way of doing things, plus it will give me something else to grow out in the garden. I wormed Olive with yucky stuff. I dripped a little on her beak and she'd drink it. It took about 20 mins to get it all in but she was getting her fight back. She struggled a little towards the end of the ordeal, which makes me think she's feeling better. Also got her on corid. Not that she is laying right now, but what's the withdraw time for corid?

Anyway, my Meyers eggs arrived. I hope they are not scrambled because they did not hold them at the PO. And they did not leave them at the house. So they traveled back and forth a lot today.

Which is more beautiful? The chicken or the egg?

squash seeds are a natural worm preventative. I just feed them whole. They love them. I also dewormed my puppy with them, he started pooping worms the next day. But he was so infested I had to resort to an actual dewormer, squash seeds do well of preventing the worms but not as good at treating them. I will use them as a preventative for the dogs too. But for them I chop them up and sprinkle them on some lard crispies as treats.

Do you just throw in a bunch each week? It seems too easy!

It is easy! I just feed it to them anytime we have squash. lol
I don't know how often I do it but we eat quite a bit of squash. I throw all my scraps and the seeds in their run and they gobble it all up. I haven't had any signs of worms from them (they are a little over a year old).

This has got to be one of the best tips. Thanks!!
