Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Oh fingers crossed for you! We love our Dorking from Meyer, so calm, she will stand perfectly still to be petted and is easily scooped up under her boat shaped body and by far the silkiest feathers of our 5 week olds. Just a lovely lovely breed.

I'd heard they're a very nice and docile breed! Plus, I loooove the silver duckwing coloration on hens! :love So beautiful! Can't wait to see her fully grown! Do you have any pictures of your little one?

I hope that the Dorking hatches for you too!!! Fingers crossed! When is your hatch date???

Monday! :D Needless to say, I'm freaking out with excitement at this point! :weee

Well, yeah - I will be busting with excitement at that point too! And OBVIOUSLY you MUST POST PICS!!!!! :)

BTW - let me just say that you all in this thread are the best bunch of peeps I have met. We are like the Meyer's club!!!

I just saw that! Mine is July 14....I almost peed my pants when I saw it though!! I guess someone cancelled their order! I'm really hoping a cream legbar comes available for July 14, or a blue AM! I won't be picky!!! They have 100+ female EE for my hatch date, so as we get closer, if neither of those are available I will add a EE to make the boy happy!

I was so excited, I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I couldn't type, just pace! LOL. I'm going the same route you are. CL or AM. I'll add another EE if neither come available. Hopefully with 2 EEs, I'll get two different colored eggs.

Well, someone snatched it up because its not available anymore! Yes, I'm stalking the Meyer's site every second now! When is your hatch day Christine9? I will keep my eye out for you as well...

OK, I didn't know this chicken thing would be so heart wrenching.

Mrs. Puff just died in my arms tonight.
She was acting perfectly normal this morning. Eating and drinking. She ate wet mash from my hands as
usual at about 10 a.m. I went out at about 4:00 to fill their food and do my mid-day cleaning of the run and
she was laying in the corner. When I went over she didn't get up and I picked her up and she went limp
in my arms. I brought her to the garage to sit with her and figure out what to do and I could tell she was dying.
She passed about 10 minutes later. I Have no idea why. She had no bare spots on her like 3 of my others do,
she had no lice or mites. No egg stuck, no wounds, crop had some food in it, comb was pink and I think she laid an egg
yesterday.
What can kill a chicken so fast?

So sad and I'm afraid to wake up to more dead chickens tomorrow

I'm so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, with birds of any kind it is very difficult to tell what happened without a necropsy. Make sure to clean everything very well using your normal disinfection protocol in case it is something infectious, but it could be something random just as easily.

Again, I'm very sorry for your loss! HUGS!

Nancy, I'm sorry to hear this. It is the hardest part of the whole chicken adventure. I'm hoping things are improving for you quickly. It does seem like an isolated thing, but I honestly don't know what would move that quickly. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
