Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Thought I would share some pics of my Meyers gals... They've been going out in the small run (my older girls are pastured) during the day. I have a blue cochin, 2 welsummers, a speckled Sussex, and an Easter egger from Meyer that were 4 weeks old this Monday. The EE is being raised by my broody Ameraucana Poe. I also have 2 Crested cream legbars I got from a fellow BYC'er, they are 5 weeks old.

CCL in front Wellsummer in back. I was calling this CCL Etta but I'm not sure it's gonna stick. This wellie doesn't have a name yet as she still is super skittish.

My SS Olive. It's crazy how much they have tamed down in the last week. I mean they don't come running to me, but they run away much less and don't squawk like the dickens when I catch em.

CCL Poppy on the top right. My cochin in the center, thinking of calling her Lán sè (Chinese for Blue) since the Cochin originated in China I believe.
See that welsummer on the top left? Feathering in much slower than the other wellie? I'm still hoping it's a girl... But I started calling her Rue long ago. Ya know, Rue pronounced just like Roo (didn't think about it til a week or two ago when I actually said it aloud...) Hopefully I didn't jinx her! No black chest feathers yet so fingers crossed.

Poppy again. Check out that Mohawk!

and lastly, I tried to get a pic of the EE Ophelia but her momma was not cooperating. So here's Ophelia's head and a icy stare from Poe

Very cute!!!!

Any luck adding the chicks you wanted to your Meyers order? I am behind on my BYC reading so I wasn't sure if any had become available... I am, however, not behind in making my wishlist for chicks for next year.... Hehe!

No on a cream legbar or BAM...but Meyer's said that chances are good the closer to hatch date. My son wants to add a silkie, but I found a breeder locally who sells older chicks (4-8 weeks) sexed and might have a pullet later this summer, so I'm going to go that route. I may be over my chicken limit, but who's going to line them up and count

...and a chick may not make it or something! Worst case scenario, if we are "caught" then the silkie becomes a "house" chicken for a little bit until the chicken police leave us alone...

Sometimes I can barely do a head count of my 10 hens in the coop when I lock em up at night... And I know the differences between them all! I always count 2 or 3 times because they are always on the move, so I am guessing someone coming over and glancing at them would have trouble noticing an extra!
I've got my fingers crossed for a BAM or CCL to become available for you! I just love my little CCL chicks, they are so laid back. From day one (I got them at a week old) they would just sit in my hands and look at me like they already knew me. Of course I like my Ameraucanas as well, beautiful birds + beautiful eggs! (I got mine as POL pullets so they aren't nearly as tame as my other girls I raised from day olds but pull out the treats, and they are my best friends)

That's kind of what I'm thinking...plus the silkie will be pretty small, the polish hens will be on the small side too. 6, 7...who's counting! And technically, one of my polish hens will turn into a "roo" if I've ever questioned

- the quietest roo known to man!

Cream Legbar watch!!! June 23 - males have opened up!!! Maybe females are coming soon??? Next up - July 14!!!!! Fingers crossed I get my cream legbar!!!

I'm trying to decide what to do about a silkie...if one becomes available, should I take a chance and switch for one of my Polish? Or take my chances that I get a girl and get one in place for one of my Polish...or get in addition and be over my limit and take my chances in case one of the chicks don't make it, or the silkie turns out to be a boy?

I have a friend that has a couple and she and her friend agree that Polish do better in pairs, they feel safer having a friend since they can't see as well.

That's good to know! I haven't seen or hear that info anywhere. We were going to get the pair because my son wanted each of us to have "matching: ones...

Seriously 6, 7 - who can count!

All your birds are beautiful and so cute! You should submit that last photo to Meyer! That is precious!

So jealous of all you people going to Meyers!

About the Polish chicks. My Golden Laced Polish does just fine by herself and she is one of the lead chickens in my younger group of 16. She also is friendly too and squats to have her back rubbed. I would like more since they are just so much fun to watch with their hairdos, but she is fine being the lone polish in the flock. My SF is another fun one to watch too, she is so funny looking and a riot. She randomly screams out while free ranging and runs and tries to fly, but is too fat to get up in the air.
