Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Awesome! How are the house sale and purchase coming along??

So far so good. Just waiting for the appraisal back on the house we are buying. It's the last step. We close on both houses next week and move next weekend. :)
Fingers crossed the appraisal comes back fine. We are a little worried since it's a va loan and there are 2 cracked windows and some cracked siding. If he doesn't like it hopefully the seller will fix it.

How exciting! I am sure the appraisal will go well. They don't usually devalue a house for minor repairs unless the overall condition of the house appears substandard/below average condition. Did you have both inspections already? If the inspection didn't find any major issues, the appraisal shouldn't be bad. Good luck!

Are you going to wait to get the CLs after you move? Have you figured out how to reconfigure the coop for external nesting boxes? Or are you just going to keep it as is until you get settled in and see what works and what doesn't?

Thank you! I will have pics for updates on them! Actually we do have a Big Mama that is a BO also! My broody's name is Butchy lol long story short we thought "she" was a "he".....well one day she layed an egg and well the rest is history!

Ha Ha, must be a common BO name then. My daughter-in-law picked her out of the catalog and chose the name. She does fit the name very well, just needs the chicks to be an actual Big Mama. She is our sweetest hen and my husbands favorite.

We had a Fred for awhile, so I understand the boy names and an Elvis too!

The problem isn't the value of the house it's that VA has certain conditions that must be met to be approved. One is broken windows. One is broken pretty bad, the other just has a crack in one pane. I'm sure he'll say the seller needs to replace the bad one. Our inspector didn't even find the outside wall that is riddled with hail holes so I'm not sure how much other stuff he missed. Overall the house is great. It's just VA's stupid requirements. Really annoying.

I'm not sure when we'll get the CLs. I haven't heard back from the breeder yet. We have some marans in our brooder right now that they could go in with so I could get them now.

We haven't decided anything with the nest boxes yet. I think we'll just live with it for awhile and see.

Happy Egg Day folks! One of our neighbors just rang our back door bell to hand us a three row egg carton. Yeah, that's wishful thinking for 5 layers, only one of which will probably lay everyday, when we have family, friends and neighbors to supply/gift.

Today our girls were introduced to mint, peas and dandelion green ice cubes. Baby Buff thinks they are for standing on.

Neat idea and cute chick!

Barred rock bantam roo and maybe hen also light brown Leghorn and also Hamburg hen
nice!

I can't take it! The CL is still available. Can I tell you how many different three chick orders I have created around it? My husband would divorce me for sure. I'm trying so hard to be patient.
Yeah, we have to step softly around those husbands, don't we...My is helping me a ton with my garden lately, so I take what I can get and try not to go over the limit with what I want. So right now...it's the garden....later...maybe more chicks?

Is anyone good at sexing Silkies?
I really think Patty Patty may be a Patrick
This look screams rooster to me...but I no nothin' about silkies! Cute little girl/guy no matter what she/he is!

I just heard for the breeder I got my CL eggs from (that only 1 hatched and then we lost to cocci)... the lady that was going to buy the girls from her latest hatch pulled out. So I'm getting a male/female pair from her. :)
Awesome!! You can hatch your own and we'll all buy from you!

When will you get them?

Dominique rooster. Some of my Dominique turned out with single combs though.
Pretty boy!! I love the Dominiques!

How normal is it to have a silkie with 6 toes?
I have no idea, but now I want to know too!

Beautiful chicks. Did you just order a variety pack, or do you know what breeds they might be?

Great news, best of luck!! I know you'll be happy once it is all over!

Silkies are notoriously difficult and can fool even experienced breeders but I think roo is a pretty good guess with this one.
I know nothing and it screams roo. 50/50 shot and I chose poorly.

That's a good idea. Take notes and look at tons of pics on BYC and you'll get it just right!!

Absolutely!! My DH does everything out there for me and doesn't care what comes and goes as long as his BA named after his grandmother doesn't go anywhere.

I know... sadly he will have to go but I'll wait a while.
