Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

looks like it'll be next Spring! :thumbsup something to look forward too! :D I have to share this picture with all of you. The girls were dust bathing everywhere and afterwards I found this on the pavement after one of them shook off. Thought it was the cutest thing!
That is beautiful!!
Yup, sure are! ;) Age is just a number anyway. In my heart, I am 25, for some reason the mirror does not agree with my heart!
I'm always shocked to see an older me when I look in the mirror! In my mind, I'm frozen at 30, which is getting kind of weird since I have a 21 year old son! Lol

My favorite age was 28. Love that number. I have friends that say they are younger than they are but I like to say I'm older. If I say I'm 55 people think I look really good for my age :lau

Oh, I liked 28 too. It was the last age that I was able to keep track off. Now, when someone asks me how old I am, I have to do the math. Then I have to figure out if I've had a birthday this year yet, then adjust if necessary! LOL! And I'm 32!

It is nice to see a variety of ages here. I used to think only the old fashioned type kept chickens. Supposedly it's the fastest growing small business. A non-chicken person told me that this week.

So excited! I went out this morning to feed my broody Butchy this morning and when she was eating at the nest she was clucking ALOT. I start listening and all I hear are little peeps peeping back! :weee They will be hatching soon!!!! I wish I had had my phone on me to take a video but was already late for work! I couldn't be any later than I was!

Any hatchlings, yet???

Road trip! Start making your plans now because I won't probably have chicks until next spring.
You guys will get to go on the journey with me until then though.

Sounds good to me!!

ok, funny story that only my friends here would understand! My landlord had to stop by the house for a bit today to check on an issue I had told him about.

We got to chatting about the garden, etc. He's a nice guy, about my age (I'm turning 40 next week) & when I moved in I made him put in the lease that I could have free reign with the landscaping, put in a garden, etc. So the lease reads that "the tenant can landscape and make changes to the yard without prior permission unless the changes will result in a permanent fixture to the property. No changes should go against any zoning laws or local ordinances." Pretty standard stuff, so that I don't have to ask for permission anytime I want to put in a flower bed.

Well, I hadn't exactly asked him about the chickens because 1 - they weren't inside pets and 2 - the coop wouldn't be a permanent structure to the outside landscaping.

So in the course of our conversation about the garden, he told me that everyone around him is getting backyard chickens and he thought of me with my garden! He asked if I had ever considered it! So I did confess that I had plans and he gave his "blessing" and thought it was a great idea. He just asked that I send him pictures after all the chicks arrive and after the coop is built...and when they start laying eggs, he gets to come by for breakfast one day!

I told him that I could definitely take care of that!

Who ya calling old?? :old Lol My husband, who is 7 years older than me and still thinks I'm a kid, has boots older than you! 32 is a great age, so is 28, so is 48 and so is 50. Whatever your age, embrace it and enjoy it! Time goes so fast!

Forgive me, I'm feeling a little sentimental because my baby girl is graduating from high school on Saturday. I will have 3 kids in college next year. It doesn't seem possible. Good things I have all those chickens to take care of! :yiipchick

That's a great landlord. I can imagine some would say absolutely no chickens. You lucked out big time!!!! But you sound like the perfect tenant too!

That's one of the reason I got chickens... I will need something to mother.

I have one boy going into his 3rd year of college and my other will be a senior in h.s. Next year will be so hard and I'll cherish every minute he's still home with me. He's my little baby. So I can't even imagine your baby girl graduating on Sat. Bitter sweet I'm sure.
Are your kids in college close by or far away? My older one is about 3 1/2 hours away but he's so happy there I can't be sad for me.

Yeah, he's great! I've got 1.5 yrs on this lease & as long as they don't raise the rent too high, I will stay here until my son goes to middle school. I would love to find a little bit bigger house, maybe a little bit further away from downtown, with a fenced backyard owned by the same guy. He & his business partner own quite a few homes.
