Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I can already tell who will be the top hen when they're grown. Our only other chicken is a buff silkie, named King (we thought she was a he for the longest time) that has to stay by herself. She's my oldest son's favorite chicken, and he is distraught that she has to stay alone... so, I've been trying to introduce her to the chicks in the hopes that she would co-brood the chicks. Alas, she just pecks them and then proceeds to ignore them and gobble their food. Angel just watches (if she can see through that cotton ball on her head) and continues to cluck contentedly--I was a little disappointed that Angel didn't try to defend the chicks from her friend. Apparently that doesn't sit well with the little BCM, we're calling Mei. She charged at the buff silkie, grabbed hold of the silkie's ear and hung on. The first time, I thought it was a fluke but she's done it twice more. This morning, it was as soon as I put the buff silkie in the brooder; Mei charged out from under Angel's wing to attack! Went straight for the ear and hung on furiously!

While that is unfortunate about your Buff that is pretty hilarious! It would not be surprising at all with the other breeds you have, but to be so bold so young! Hold that one extra so she stays docile with humans. Our BCM is our head hen and the most standoffish (without being skittish), though she didn't show signs of it when she was little, not until they moved out to the coop was the pecking order soundly established. We thought that our Golden Buff, who was the most adventurous chick would be at the top, but alas she is at the very bottom.

I have so much water in the coop again. Last year, this was not an issue. But this year, there has been so much rain. I really don't know what to do. About 1/4 of the run is dry and thankfully the coop is off the ground so it's dry. I'm thinking I have to dig a trench to divert the water. Ugh! I wish someone would come over and do it for me ;)

Doesn't sound fun, we are also having water from snow melt right above pop door and down the siding of coop. Might have to get a gutter for that side.

Bleck! It's always something!
I did just obtain an egg customer, my first! Hoping it goes well.

I hope you meant run, which is no fun (I'm dreading all this snow melting, its going to be a stinky sponge) but if it was the coop, yikes!

I can't remember who it was that made labels for their egg cartons. Ok, so with one customer, I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'd like to do that. Especially if it's something I can print at home as needed.

Here is the label I made,I have yet to print them as we have stopped donating and selling while I went through my wrist surgery and recovery. I ordered the image from Esty and then changed it and added our name and such.

These are the eggs I'm setting today. Oh my nerves! My splash ameraucana is laying some of those pretty blue eggs stacked on top. My black ameraucana is laying the slightly greener ones. The bottom ones are those wheatens I ordered. And I threw some wellie and buff brahma eggs in for good measure. They should make some cute EEs and OEs.
Nice! I hope you keep us updated on their progress, so exciting. Have you hatched eggs before? Are you planning on selling chicks? Sorry if you have already mentioned this.

What gorgeous eggs! I received my chicks on Wednesday from Meyers (via MyPetChicken) and was going for a colorful egg basket. I have one each BCM, EE bantam, CCL, and bantam white crested black polish. I was hoping that the CCL would give me a blue egg (for what I paid for it I really expect a blue egg!) but after reading some posts on here it sounds like the CCL may just lay a green egg.

. But your splash ameraucana lays a beautiful blue egg... Maybe I should order a blue Ameraucana next year to get the blues? I love the look of the splash....maybe I'll get lucky with a splash.

Oh no, I hope you can get that fixed soon.

I just make a simple label on my label maker. I do love COChix's though. I really only give mine away to family and just have one neighbor that I sell to, but occasionally others here and there. I imagine for someone who sells a lot of eggs they would need a more professional one like cochix's.

It is still freezing here today. I survived throwing a baby shower yesterday and having all the family in. We did all the games and everything and it was a lot of fun. We almost had to cancel due to the weather but it cleared up just in time. Now we wait for the baby. Think it could be anytime in the next few weeks. She is measuring 2 weeks early which would make her due May 10th, but they're not changing her due date for the 24th.

I want to get chicks so bad too. All these new chicks everywhere, so tempting! I am hoping that TSC or somewhere else still has some good breeds available in April, I just may break down and get some then.
