Woohoo! So exciting! Can't wait to see pics ;)
What'd you order?

I am getting 2 Salmon Faverolles, 2 Blue Ameraucanas, and 1 Partridge Penedescenca. Can't wait!! I am checking the USPS app every 5 minutes.

Funny how we pronounce many of the breeds differently. I say Uh-mare-uh-KAHN-uh she says Uh-mare-uh-COON-uh, I say Ma-run she says Mare-ans, though I still am not convinced I'm pronouncing it right until I hear a native French speak say it.
Yeah, I am sometimes afraid to try to say breed names out loud to anybody who already knows them. I've sounded silly more than once!

I know that in French, they would accent the last syllable, the N would be sort of swallowed, and the S would be silent. But most Americans would not say things with a French accent, so if we tried to say it how the French do, we would probably draw funny looks.

The first time I heard a chicken breeder say it, she pronounced it like the audio receiver company Marantz. So I have learned to say it that way, but I don't know if it's correct.

I have this week's installment of birthday photos. I take the pictures on Mondays, but I can never seem to get around to posting them while it's still Monday.

The big 5 week olds, Peppermint and Aggie (Blue Splash Marans):

Combs seem to be staying small enough. Their feathers are filling in nicely. Having that little pile of pine chips on the towel does wonders for getting them to stand still a little bit. They are silly- you would think they had never seen a pine chip in their life!

Now for the 4 week olds, and Gloria, of course, who is 33 days old.

Corabeth sporting a tuxedo:

You can tell that Blossom is still a lot smaller. But at least this week she has started growing a tail

Elizabeth is getting some nice rich color:

And these are not Meyer chicks, but I'm excited, because I saw an ad on Craigslist yesterday for Cream Legbar chicks, and I was able to buy a pair last night! I had bought a pair a month ago, and the female turned out to be a mixed breed, so the breeder took them back. I'm happy to finally have some correct ones:

The male:

The female:

They hatched on April 1st.

Do we even have a photo limit on BYC? I have never yet been told I've uploaded too many photos.

They're here! So in love with my new babies. And I can't wait for my sons to get home from school.

I love splash Ameraucanas!  I think that was the first splash variety I ever saw, and now I love all splash.  Do you have photos of them?

Of course!!
This is my black ameraucana, Eggplant:

And my splash, Limabean. She is clean faced, so no beard or muffs. She is also a very cranky broody right now.
