Well, that was very interesting, thanks.

And, um, how did you make that cake if you don't mind telling me?

Have you ordered from another hatchery or broker in the past? More than likely if you did they may have came from Meyers.... basically when the order goes through to be drop shipped your name is saved on their database. Next year, you automatically get a catalog.

Well my goodness. You mean that when I ordered, say, from Cackles, it may have come from Meyers? I did not know that!

Catherine

no, if you ordered from cackle , they have their own farms they use and eggs and birds, if you order from cackle they will not be dropshipped from meyer. the reason you did not know that is because it is not true. cackle is not a middle man, they are a hatchery, they hatch their own birds, if you order from purely poultry or someplace that is not actually a hatchery, then they will be dropshipped. but not cackle, they have been shipping their own birds since the 30s.

Bought some bantams that were supposedly from them. If so, they were better quality than I got from a breeder--granted must have not been a good breeder.

I'm told they update their roosters w/better quality whenever they can. No matter, I'm happy w/mine.

I LOVE MEYERS. I live down the road from them and they are the nicest and courtest people I've worked with. I've never had any issues with the birds and all are beautiful and lay big eggs. This year they have alot of new birds. Order early, on these. They have set order limits on the new birds. Oh as a mater of fact, I'm picking up my Marans collection in about hour, I'm hoping for some goldens, will post pic later. You will love them. I recommend going and seeing the hatchery if you live close enough. You will love the staff.

I just picked up my order of day old chicks from Meyer Hatchery yesterday......it's a good thing I didn't have them shipped, because they were short 3 chicks of my order of 16 total, and one of them had splayed legs and was already being abused by the others.....it was an Appenzeller female. They subbed an Ameraucana (yeah, I know, EE) roo for me instead.

They all survived their ~3 hour drive to Pittsburgh, and their first night in their new home, a livestock watering trough/brooder with thermostat controlled heat lamps (my DH is very talented!): and....... I think that Gro Gel is good stuff.

Meyer hatchery has a very nice storefront, are knowledgeable people, maybe a bit confused up at the front desk, but really, what is the chance that a Petrosko and a Petrosky are there to pick up their orders at the same time? in the middle of Amish country Ohio?

I'll admit, too, that I had a complicated order: 10 breeds, but only 16 chicks total. I would definitely take the trip there again assuming I would ever be allowed to get more chickens!

I buy all my chicks from the Meyer Hatchery in Polk Ohio. This is because I place small orders and I can drive there and pick them up. They are WONDERFUL! If you look at their website online, you'll see they even have a video to show some behind the scenes incubating.

Every chick I've gotten from them has been very healthy, and their customer service is excellent! I get teased all the time because I love them so much.......I wouldn't buy my chicks anywhere else. My friend says I buy my chicks from my "Uncle Meyers" LOL

This is my first order with them this year - I ordered from them because they are relatively close to WV

ordered 60 cornish X- supposed to be shipped Monday - this is Wed and no chicks yet - I am getting worried about having a box full of dead chicks - hopefully they will arrive tomorrow morning as it has been cold.

cross your fingers that they will arrive tomorro and will all be alive.

Oh gosh--this has happened to me, too--how stressful!

I hope they come soon and they are still ok.
