Good afternoon,

I am new to the forum šŸ”šŸ£. I am looking to purchase hatching eggs for a second try with the incubator ( our first go round resulted in no hatches - humidity I think was the issue - too high).

I had purchased eggs from meyer and also used some of our own from our hens before we lost our rooster. Out of the six eggs I received from meyer, only one was viable and the egg they sent was extremely small.

I purchased some chicks from my pet chicken for the potential hatchlings to have friends since we didn't have confidence in a high hatch rate, and really like the chicks from my pet chicken and the customer service.

Not sure who to get the hatching eggs from this second try - really wanted to get some of the funky chicken mix they have at my pet chicken, and I am hesitant to order from Meyer again since the eggs were all but one not fertile/viable. ( I know it's a chance you take, but it was really disappointing for all but one to be no good)

Thoughts or opinions? I've received old threads, but seem to find more info on ordering chicks versus hatching eggs and outcomes between the two.

Thanks for any input!
Lynette

I have bought from Meyers. They say the same eggs they use, but, the eggs have alot of pores, and shipped across the country. Egg with pores may not ship well. On the plus side, I get very few broken air cells with Meyers.

If you just want to experiment, have you asked anyone around you if they have fertile eggs? Ask on your state thread, if there is one. You didn't say where you live, but there are a lot of threads for various states.
