If you live in Michigan and haven't heard, there is a family who uses chickens as therapy for their daughter with special needs. However, chickens are not permitted where they live. The family started a petition that you can sign to support them. http://www.change.org/petitions/city-of-perry-allow-lucas-and-katelyn-to-keep-their-therapy-animals

Also, we are asking anyone interested in supporting this family to attend the city council meeting TOMORROW, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 7pm at the Perry City Hall. This story has received a lot of press throughout the country and we're looking for as many supporters as possible at tomorrow's meeting.

The family likely knows this but in case they don't....if the girl has a doctor's diagnosis for her disability and if chicken(s) are recommended for her as therapy animals...it should supersede whatever codes or rules the town has for prohibiting them. Her chickens may be recognized by the ADA. The family might want to contact the ADA and see if they can help...bet the town would back down without a fight. Here's the link.
