Good Luck & Congrats..

Are the combs red or just larger? Leghorns in particular get BIG combs so it would stand to reason but if they're red, that might be a... well... "red fhere is a picture.. combs are not
red.. thats good to know.
here is a picture of my leghorns and isa.. their combs are pale..

Well, goat pulled through! I think he's out of the clear. Yesterday was touch-and-go, i had to do an emergency ivermectin pour-on the other day. I know he was weak, but we discovered he was so covered in biting lice that you could barely see skin! And so anemic his eye and gums were almost white. Dang goat also wobbled off earlier in the day to eat a bowl of cigaretts i later discovered. :( (Not ours) So, many grey hairs over him.

Yesterday i did a drench called (something) punch, it had easily digested vitamins and the probiotics to help calm his stomach. I really thought he was a goner yesterday, wasn't walking at that point; this morning he greeted us at the gait! And was talking! And walking pretty steady!

:D

So now i know he will live my next question is how long does it take a goat to put on weight? He's strictly on vitamins and hay for now, until i know for sure he's digesting proper. Soon he will get pellets too.

Stopped at the farm store today just to pick up a bag of feed... **cough** DH grabbed up these 2 little cuties.

Hmm... if I had to guess... I think I should be able to spot the female. LOL

I'm no expert, far from it, but I'd guess they were pullets. If it had gotten any lighter today I would have taken a side by side picture of my pullet and roo so you could see the difference. Maybe tomorrow.

I just looked out my while... I can see the sunset! Please no more rain.....

Me too!

Good to hear he's doing better. Once his system is working well and he's eating pellets alright you might add a handful of whole oats and/or BOSS.

I love seeing all the pics. Glad that the goat is doing better, I hope he continues to improve.

I have been missing my chickens so much that DH got this little guy for me.

I am open to suggestions for names. He is a Papillon and won't get much over 8 lbs full grown. I like the name Tate cause he is just a little tater tot. DH is not too sure about that name. He wants something like Bruiser...something that sounds like a big dogs name

Lice - bleah. Glad he is holding his own. Just be cautious about rushing his recovery, this time of year with its temperature shifts and extremes, is hard enough on animals without other stresses (like almost starving to death) added on top. His immune system is going to take time to recover too.
