Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I've led a live that has allowed me to experience many wondrous things. Probably one of the most beautiful resulted in my current name. Congratulations Laura on your upcoming name change.

Was there an all night party around here? Sheesh, and I slept right through it!

Congrats to HH, & so sorry to Nova, Candy & iamfivewire. Lisa, I have the eggs collected & will likely be setting them today. I have a broody australorp that has been determined to hog the nest box for a couple of weeks now. She's never hatched eggs before though so I can't say how efficient she is, but her sister just hatched some this spring and did a wonderful job. The 2 girls are very much alike, so I'm hopeful for this lady. "Shiver" is her name. I'm thinking about setting the eggs under her, rather than in my incubator. Sound ok? So, I think my brahma pullets are starting to lay. Their pullet eggs are the smallest little things!! Even smaller than a silkie egg. My DD keeps baby talking to them. LOL. I've been getting about 10 eggs a day right now, and still have 6 pullets left to mature to laying age. Really, I think I've lost count on how many hens/pullets I have out there! Hmm.... **starts counting on fingers, ...add in toes... dang, grabs the calculator, double dang... the calculator doesn't do chicken math!!** I really need to get this figured out. Maybe after a couple more cups of coffee. I might have to go out there & physically count them. Well, at least I know exactly how many roosters I have, 2! One Brahma, and one Old English Bantam. Phew, at least that wasn't hard.

Eeek! Timing is really bad right now. I found out my hubby is taking me on vacation at the end of August beginning of september. A great surprise but can't have babies right now! Can I hold off? Thanks!

My son and DIL made their announcement... I am finally going to be a grandma!

Welcome to the club! Cindy and I are off to Boston to see ours next week and then he'll be out later in August for some Pop Pop and Grammy time. How's the hummer's? Are you finally getting the rain we are - I think it's been about 3 weeks without water! So, congrats and hope to see you soon! John and Cindy,

That's fine. It's no biggie for me to just add the eggs back to the rest of them in the fridge.

Not sure when I'll be able to get this combo again. Pretty soon my rooster will be covering 20-22 hens, which makes it hard to keep all the ladies fertile, and I might be replacing my rooster next year. Though likely it will be with another Brahma since they're such nice gentle guys. However I've been considering an EE rooster as well.

Of course with that many hens, I can have 2 roosters with them & it shouldn't be a problem (I don't count the little banty rooster... he's more like a jabbering box of entertainment). Ha! Plus, I'll probably put him in the silkie pen anyways since I gave my silkie rooster to trefoil.

Ya now I'm rambling. I reckon I just don't want to get back to work. On a side note: Why do flies always like to commit suicide in my fresh cup of coffee!!! GRR! So annoying.
