Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I am quite surprised at Belinda's color! She is gray with some dark brown and white markings! And she is so soft! But Bella is very very protective of her baby. Bella had charged at me, and everyone had to keep their distance. It might be a challenge to get her into my new milkshed to milk her tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see how much milk she will produce! She loves apples, so I will bribe her with those to get her into the milkshed.

Thanks everyone! Oh yes! I am gonna keep her! I just hope that she keeps the color! Its so interesting! Ok, off to get Bella milked for the first time since April 1st. It will be a few days before we can drink the milk, for right now Bella is making colostrum. Hope that she will be a good girl!

Pretty baby !! What are the breed parents?

That extra first milk is great for the chickens !! Loaded with goodies for them.

I have right at a half dozen young Delawares, about two mos to just incubating, the older ones are beautifully docile, next year I will be adding some back but this year I am concentrating on my Icelandics and Iowa Blues. I am also going to add heritage RC RIRs
next year, which will give me 4 heritage breeds, thats all I can do justice to.

But for now have these youngsters available to a good home.

Also still have the pair of Australian Spotted Ducks, a couple interested but no definites made yet. These are really beautiful quiet little ducks. But like the Delaware youngsters I need the space.

Life goes on, found a half a dozen small tomatoes yesterday, down low where the cold didnt get the blossoms. To get more I am going to have to put plastic over them.

Starting the chicken house next month, which will free up the present pens for growing out.

I will also have a small flock of turkeys, and a small flock of pheasants next year, in former dog pens. Right now have one Bourbon Red and two Black Spanish turkeys, be interesting to see what a cross will be, I think one of the Spanish is a Tom, not sure on the others. Just size and dominance on the one. Time will tell. On the pheasants they will be the Blue variety of Ringnecks, regular color with Blue backs. I have a breeder located on them.

Sun is shining, supposed to be warm into the week. I am ready for that.
