Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Actually there are 2 definitions:

Full cord: 8'L x 4'H x 4'D

Face cord: 8'L x 4'H x any length of log (in our case, our face cords are 18-24" deep, so about 1/2 the volume of a full cord).

Probably WAY more info than ya wanted, Holly :D

Thank you so much to all who helped answer the heated waterer question!!! We had waterer on a timer, but nipples were freezing. So we turned it on all the time and its definitely keeping the nipples from freezing, but its the temp of bath water.
Opa, I will be buying a thermo cube plug as soon as I return to civilization. We are at the chicken house this weekend (in the middle of the woods) I'm loving how beautiful the woods are when the snow falls!
It will be nice to shoot a deer too while I'm here! ;-)

Nah, y'all are perfect. Actually I was asking for DH. Seems like the more downed stuff we remove, the more we find. He is now calculating the cords he has/has yet to deal with. I was seriously hoping that I'd walk out there and discover a naturally created hunting blind after last weekend's wind no such luck!

I have been forgetting to ask whoever mentioned brining the turkey.. dry brine or kind you soak? I have done the dry and have the recipe for the liquid but don't know if there is a huge taste difference?

Lady-- have you seen this? http://m.instructables.com/id/Shaded-Yarn-Skein-Dyed-With-Kool-Aid/all/?lang=pt

Here's my current project. Please tell me the 1st 2 words that come to mind.
400
This will measure 58" long by apx 50" wide.

2 words? Hand cramps. Lol.

Take heart in knowing that in 28 days the daylight hours will start increasing.

Best reminder ever!

Up way to early.

The waters will definitely be frozen good this morning. Thinkin some warm oatmeal for the birds and maybe us too and get to church. By the time we get back home, the water should be froze again

Definitely can't wait till we have the $ next yr and run electrical out there. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and stay warm!!!!!

Yep everything was frozen solid when I went out at 0600. Knew it would be, so had some nice lukewarm, fresh water for when they "got up for breakfast " :D

I was thinking of making them some oatmeal, too. Right now I am finishing making a Mexican meal for 15 - 20 (second dinner of the year I am taking to our meat processor & his crew...last Saturday it was lasagna).

So glad I am on leave from work all week. Tonight we are going to an invitation only after hours event at Cabela's during which you get employee pricing!!!! :woot

Runs from 19:30-22:30 which would normally be WAY past my bedtime !! I LOVE going to Cabela's. It isn't just shopping (which I hate ), it's an EVENT :D

I brine my turkey every year. I use the Pioneer Woman turkey brine recipe (and her pie crust, pecan pie, baked french toast, corn dogs.....suffice it to say that I've loved everything of hers that I've made), and follow her turkey roasting instructions as well. I have also cut the recipe in half and brined chickens and was absolutely THRILLED with the results. I don't know how it compares to a dry-brined bird, but we sure love it here.

Very frustrated last night to discover that all of the nipples on the buckets are frozen up.....not the water, just the nipples. If anyone comes up with a good way to prevent that from happening without running a light on the bottom of the bucket, please share!
