Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

The ground at our house finally thawed enough for a little tilling in the garden. All the poopy bedding from the duck stall was shoveled out and shallowly tilled in for hopefully a better garden crop. We had some issues with peppers and cantaloupe last year. The watermelon didn't do that well either, come to think of it.

My hubby also put in this amazing new set up for me! Now that the big ducks are outside, the little ones get more space and we are seriously considering Cornish Xs and maybe Guineas. I'm not sold on the Guineas. I'm also wondering if you guys have any pointers on plucking? I skinned the two drakes that went to freezer camp and that was a PAIN IN THE REAR. Give me a deer any day….

I'm guessing that Sam is riding that new dozer. I know I would be.

I'm getting some spring chores in, it is much more fun when you have the right equipment for it. That and lots of breaks. I have a pile of clippings, cuttings and trimmings to run through the shredder. After this break.

Those little goats are so small. I'm glad the smallest one took the bottle. I'll bet you are relieved, Silly.
Let my girls out for their very first time ever. They went right for the compost pile.

Spring is definitely here, pulled a couple of dandelions.

I actually LIKE Dandelions. Send me yours!

They are a great source of calcium and other nutrients. I eat them, and so do my lizards! I bet they are good for chickens, too.

Break time.

The entire front yard is cleaned up and respectable. Small controlled burn went off without a hitch. Even the sidewalk, driveway and street are free of winter debris. I don't think the bald cypress survived the winter though.

Bee hives have been inspected and moved to a new location. Packages should be here soon.
