Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hope you feel better Silly.

Honestly, if I was going to get chicks, I'd buy sexed hens only in the next few weeks or so, then I'd wait for one of the really pretty, really nice Roos to pop up here or on Craigslist for free. Because they will be there shortly.

Please see Precious Kitty's Post

ETA: the quote was from a post dated 3/16/14 in response to someone who was here asking about building up a flock.
Sorry I can't make the quotes appear as they should. PK, I hope you find a home for your Roo, he's beautiful.

One of my dog's newest habit is to roll in chicken poop. He's had lots of baths since the weather turned warmer. Any ideas on how I can break him of this habit? Its disgusting and I'd rather not bathe him daily :(

I'm cracking up. While mine doesn't roll in it (but does like to eat it) my neighbor's y.o. Labs, when they escape...LOVE to run to the cow pasture next door & roll around in the COW pooh!!! Eeew!

Keep him out of the chicken poop? :) Mine loves to eat it, and it really gives him smelly gas! See you soon!
The chickens free range in our fenced back yard...which is also the dog run :( Gah, I might have to follow him around with a squirt bottle to try and break the habit.

That won't happen. I just look at it as a) he isn't eating the chickens as he's figured out where the yummys come from and b) mine are free ranging too and I don't have to deal with stepping in the poop!

Does anyone have week old or younger ducklings in South East Michigan? I had a single Muscovy duckling hatch last night and I'm looking for 2 companions for him. It doesn't really matter what breed or mixed as long as they aren't Pekins.

I know I seem to post more goat kid than chicken chick pictures, but hey, they're very adorable! Also, the incubator is currently cooking away with the first batch of eggs for the year!

All three kids

Sleepy Percy

Even more sleepy Athena using her sister as a facerest.

And a very chill Xena.

Athena after her sister got up, no more pillow!

I took this image of their dam's udder this morning. She wouldn't stand still for me, so I had to tie a leg off to the side. But it does look fantastic, and was very milkable!

It's alright, we understand. We even appreciate a picture of a goat butt. Or maybe I'm just speaking for myself.
