Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Brenn- yes it could be used, but they may ( or may not ) go over it. Check out lowes, home depot, and TSC, they may have a better price on it. I use the step in posts for it when using as a temporary fence. I found some, only it was black, really heavy duty at an auction & got it cheap. I love it. I use it for temporary fencing, to protect plants, and over larger holes wire to predator proof. I got mother's day early today. My d & grandson (6) came and helped me make fence all day, best present ever. We got 100' done.

Starbright Farms breeds beautiful silkies. She has a FB page. She's in Brown City

Thanks
I forgot Michele has silkies. And I will be a mile from her in 2 weeks
Just messaged her!

On another note
400

Heres my calico frizzle I hatched out. Shes so pretty!

Hatching has begun :weee

Went out at 6:20 & heard peeping!! Don't know what is going on under Maia, & I'm not gonna disturb her as it is chilly out...and, there is nothing I can do anyway except wait!!!

On a side note: 3 of the 4 EEs I got from TSC last year were black & white (Spaz in my Avatar) and the 2 roosters ... Blackie (who was adopted a few weeks ago) & Bigboy. Both roosters are gorgeous...(& I think Spaz is pretty cute, too ;))

And....

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you moms out there :D

Quote: Thanks...I can tell from this pic that some are a pretty good blue. Nice basket!

Who knows what they do....who knows if they breed there or where they get their hatching eggs, and if they get them from 'breeders' how well the vet those breeders?

I'm not opposed to mixed mutt birds ...most my flock are mutts. But I do believe in saying/advertising only what is true.

I have 2 EE pullet chicks, now 5 weeks old, from Townline thru my local mill (they insist on calling them Araucanas...I call them ArauKindas) ...we shall see what I color eggs I get.

Well, 3 of the 6 eggs under mama hen hatched last night. I candled the others and 2 never developed (probably shoudl have done that a while ago) and one appears to have died overnight. It was peeping and moving yesterday but was cold and quiet this morning. We have a black chick, a grey one and a yellow one! :)

Heres a couple pics!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

A special Happy Mother's Day to those mothers who have lost children.
This day is harder than their birthday or the day of their death.

Hard on ones who have lost mothers, too. I spent yesterday with mine but today i spend with dh since his was lost to cancer.

Yay! I didn't think about going to cs this year with my old job because we worked almost every day mandetory, but now unless something big comes up i have the day off!

I work at TSC in Lapeer... last yr me and 4 other co-workers got into a debate on our chicks from Townline about the ee chicks and their true name.
The box Townline ships them in says "Araucana"...
I told everyone that they are mismarked and that they are a mutt called "Amerucana or Ee's".

So we called Townline to see what they had to say. And I quote... they are not Araucanas, we just call them that and lable them so. They are not true and really are a Amerucana or EE and that the person there is correct on the mislabeling.

So they do recognize they are mislableing the birds however continue to do so without really caring.

So with this said, the reason so many folks who sell this breed of bird in their store only calls them what the hatchery in labeling them as. So they are not wrong as this is how they come to them named...
