Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Press release?? There was a press release??
I just text him since he does not come on here anymore. Still interested in his hogs. Might go visit before the snow flies. I'll tell him to come visit once in a blue moon. Maybe HH too! Hi Laura!!!

As for lighting, I usually give my birds some time off in the fall to molt and renew fat stores. Then around end of December I put a light in the coop that comes on at 4:30 am. That seems to be enough light to stimulate laying for most of the hens.

I agree that it is best to have the light come on early in the am, then allow the birds to go to bed with natural light, rather than in sudden darkness when the light goes off.

And make sure your light is securely fixed, with at least 2 separate attachments, preferably wire or chain to reduce risk of fire.

Congratulations Farmerboy

For those of you that know my story:
My local commissioner was NOT re-elected! I guess the majority of voters don't want a criminal for a commissioner...

For several years, when he was physically unable to hunt, my father liked coming here during deer season. He liked being here to help butcher the deer my son and I would harvest. On Tuesday my father was sitting on my front porch waiting for me to get home.

I recently requested his cremains be disinterred in Kentucky and shipped here so we can have him interred in the Great Lakes National cemetery. That he arrived just before hunting season some how seems appropriate.
