Hah, the romaine did turn to mush. But that is OK, there are other yummy vegetables in there to give it substance!

However, any such domestic animal may be led about outside the premises of the owner thereof on a suitable leash, in the immediate control of a competent person.

Did you know they make saddles for chickens with leash attachments??? I so wanna walk down the street with a chicken on a leash. lol.. I had a cat i trained once to walk like a dog, instead of wandering. It would be fun to see the shocked expressions!

Anybody know how to get ducks to go up a ramp? I have never tried, but according to local ordinances all pens must be 2 feet off ground. I wonder if it is just a duck house and not a pen if it still needs to be 2 feet up? I also states fowl can be loose on my property in the animals at large section. I may just need to call the city for clarification. What do you think? I have 2/3 of an acre and planned on fencing most of it.

I originally tried to get Peep to use the chicken coop. I lifted him up to the coop until I had a wide ramp made and he did use it once. When I let him out he would kinda fall off ledge and didn't even try to use the ramp. He then refused to use it... regardless of how may peas I tried to bribe him with. I didn't have a very good set up though.... ramp was fairly steep and coop door wasn't tall enough. As a rule I think it's no trouble to train them to use it.

This is for chicken grandma, i know you like parakeets :)
(I paint on occasion, this is a painting i did a few years ago)

See, they have happy faces! :)

There is a lady in Oregon that I've chatted with that has her chickens leash trained. She sells the harnesses on the internet.
Another lady from Washington has sent me photos of her ducks in diapers and leashes to support my court case.

I suppose that with enough patience nearly any critter can be "domesticated" to a point. I've had squirrels eat from my hand every year since I moved here. Blue jays that tap on the window when they want peanuts. But I still can't get my ISA Browns to come anywhere near me, even with treats.

lol. Wrong kind of chicken. My EE's are VERY smart and inquisitive. Not all of them, but certain ones just have that quality. Gotta get a breed that is known for it, then keep going until you find those standouts. :)

My lap hen's daughter is that way too, i never had to "tame" her she just comes running! All i have to do is hold out my arms and she comes running to be held. Always first at the treats, too. :) Every bit as tame as a good dog or cat! If i was allowed to walk her into the meetings..................lol. Might change a few perceptions.

I had an 18 YO kid come by today who needed help with a broken lawn mower. (He works for the guy down the street and knows that we are friends). Anyway, he was amazed that I had chickens and was very surprised and impressed that I could call the chickens and pick them up to be petted.

The look on his face as he petted my BO was priceless!

I have a hot pink harness and leash for my silkie. I made it like a bird harness. She doesn't like it put on and taken off but does fine once it's on. She does get lots of attention.

I need to get something for walking my chickens!!! I know everyone would love to see me walking my silkie down the road!!!
