Is she separated from the rest of the flock?

I also hand fed a bit and touched her daily while she was setting to 'build some trust', she was not one of the friendly ones....
........it worked well and she's not upset when I handle the chicks or when I was in there building ramps and water holders.

Inside a 100-plus year old barn. They have half of the old milking shed (I enclosed it). We replaced the roof on the milking shed last year, and the walls were rotted, so I ended up (yes I ) running a window from lexan down the entire length and it really lets light in. Yes she is alone and in a bigger wire dog crate with her small pen inside.

2015 plan is the paint the upper steel roof.

My birthday was yesterday and my daughter made me this lovely chicken cake. She put little chicken figures pecking at sprinkles and used toothpicks to make the fence. Isn't she clever!

HOPE EVERYTHING WENT WELL AND YOU GOT YOUR BIRTHDAY WISHES

Hi neighbors, I'm not sure how to insert myself into this crazy long thread, so this is it I guess. Anyone else in Southeast MI?
WELCOME

to byc thanks for joining the Michigander flock....have any questions feel free to ask a lot of great people on here

Happy Birthday, Lisa! The cake is adorable!!

The chicks are so cute. Love chicks...nothing cuter.

Welcome, Redfordchick! I'm outside of Flint! Where are you located? Lots of folks in southeastern MI

Of course 'you', girl builders rock, just ask me and my daughter! ;-)

What are your plans for integrating mama and chicks with rest of flock?
Same as last momma...I'll give her a part of the coop to herself and the chicks (already set up), then once the weather breaks, let her out with the others. They are very protective of the chicks. Since she's been in the coop with the others already, I don't expect a problem.

Welcome!
Happy birthday!
I'm envious of the chicks but it's not happening here for another few weeks.
Yesterday's egg count, is it 6 1/4 or 7?
700

Does anyone have access to a 3-d scanner? I anticipating more toe loss or worse in my guinea. Hopefully I caught it soon enough but am expecting the worst. My BIL is willing to print new feet for my guinea but there are are (shockingly :p ) no images of guinea feet. Duck feet yes but no guinea. We may just end up giving her duck feet if needed.

Hi folks. I've been absent for a few months, and have been reading along for a week or so. I just didn't have anything to say. But I do now. Our Easter Egger, Mabel finally laid her first egg yesterday. She hatched last February or March, so almost a full year old. I figured she started laying over the summer, and her eggs were brown. Nope: it's a lovely pale green.

We also added a new bird to our flock. Pigwidgeon is a (for real) parakeet that my daughter got for Christmas. Parakeets are strange beings.

Sending thoughts of healing and wellness to those who need them. And happy birthday/new chicks/new coop plans to all.
