Welcome to you new folks. It's been to busy here to take time to read, yet alone post anything! It is fair week here so two days in and everyone is already grumpy. My sons pigs got a first and second on carcass. They weighed in at 385# and 300#. They were over fed at the end because they were worried they might have been light.
Sunday was one down pour after another. It seems my Polish didn't know to get out of the rain and were soaked. Then someone couldn't resist their little pink scalps showing and plucked them bald. It isn't pretty!
Yesterday I open the Polish coop to find one little boy sprawled on the floor. He was like a wet rag. Pick him up and his head and wings just hung. I tried to get him to drink and put him in a carrier. By last night he was eating, drinking, head up looking and sounding normal. I'm not sure what happened to him besides being soaking wet.
Our rouge skunk is still around. He has unearthed every chicken carcass that was buried in the past year. He has also tried dig under one coop, put holes all through the yard and garden. I really want the pest gone. The coyote also scored another guinea. I missed a shot at him this morning but hopefully it will keep him away a few more days.
Today is my sons chicken showmanship with the stuffed chicken. I'm missing it because of work but hopefully he does well. He was a bit skeptical about using a stuffed chicken. The small animal barn looks so empty with no birds.
