PM me for additional details, questions or information.
Nuts. I just got a new job and i'm training millions of hours............. i really wanted to go. What kinds of things are they clinging to? I still think it's just an excuse, there is a real reason i'll bet, and it probably will get them money somehow. :( Perhaps trying to push us to buy the farms on the market, but no one has the credit or the $$$ to pay the land taxes right now!

Right now I am in the ER with my daughter who just had the baby she has some spinal fluid leaking and it is giving her the worst headaches. They are going to do a blood patch, I sure hope this works.

Not to be a conspiracy theory paranoid, but the Ag Director did just spend 10 days in China with Gov. Snyder trying to bring Chinese agriculture to Michigan. Perhaps they want to sell all the farm land to to them...

But seriously, if you can't make the meeting in person, please write to the commission (MDARD) or e-mail me a copy and I'll take it with me.

Everyone, if you feel strongly about the potential of losing your flock, please write a letter.

Is Cellulitis auto-immune?

From what I understand, it is a bacterial staph infection.

So I don't think autoimmune, but not sure??

Kimmie,

Hoping she's feeling better soon. I'm guessing she had a spinal block for pain management?

And on an upbeat note...
When I went out to close up the coop last night, I had one more chicken than yesterday. My silkie hatched out one of her eggs. I will give her a couple of days for the second one. They are a cross of a white silkie and a white EE.

The Oxford Planning Commission meeting went fantastic last night. One of the council members (who I will insist run for governor) had actually researched the Michigan Right to Farm Act. While the act is directed at commercial farms, the language implies that anyone can start a farm, sell a dozen eggs a month, and call it commercial. Moreover, what Oxford is doing cannot hold up in court. So I am now part of a three person committee to write up recommendations for a new ordnance. We still have to sell it to the township board, but we'll go in well armed with plenty of facts. We're on our way to chickens in Oxford! I need some more support at the next meeting, though, so if anyone knows any other Oxford folks who are interested, please direct them to me.

ter and having lots of babies under all that grass mulch. It is a huge area so I can't bury a fence or try to manually keep them out. Any ideas on how to get rid of them? Sometimes they get stuck in our netting and die, but other than that all I see of them is the tunnels they burrow under our plants and bites out of everything.

I think it has been a very bad yr. for pests, the moles in our yard have been worse then EVER!! front and back, like walking on sponges....a friend said he put HOT peppers down the runs and that helped get rid of them Going to try it
Question for you guys, have you come across any dead deer along water? We've got a pretty bad outbreak of EHD this year with the deer population. If you do find them contact the DNR to let them know. http://www.michigandnr.com/diseasedwildlifereporting/disease_obsreport.asp

I'll be going out this weekend to check my stands... and will check along the creeks to see if I may as well just stay home this year.
we do not have water on our property but have lakes and streams near by. we are seeing so few dear this yr it is scary. early this summer a farmer was on the news and said if the corn does not get enough rain it could become poisonous, as the fertilizer does not leave the plant. We have corn fields all around us an NO dear. DD lives in the city, near the river she has a heard of 7 that visit her yard almost daily, 6 doe, 1 buck. NO corn. how much corn are the dear in your area eating???
