Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

That sound DEEEE-LISH, Sam!

Silly - not sure on the satin balls. I have a Great Dane that I'm having major issues getting weight on. She's a Jack Russell Terrier in a Dane body, bless her heart. She runs and runs and runs....hence the weight loss (we adopted her - she was a former show dog, and we suspect spent a good deal of her day in a crate, so she didn't get that much exercise...we think she's making up for lost time now!). Someone suggested this recipe for satin balls to put some weight on Luna. (Short for Lunatic?) We'll see. Gosh, I should probably take a "before" picture, eh?

They'll work perfect for that. Just don't put too much weight on her, danes are supposed to be thin, plus any extra weight will affect her hips and encourage bloat issues.

Does anyone know whats up with the underlined "key words" in our posts now....... I HATE those cause I've gotten that virus crap from them on several occasions! You know the one where they give you some mal ware virus and want you to down load their removal program...errrrrrrr!

any suggestions on what to do if a chicken gets into mold? Lost WC Polish roo to it this fall I took him in & tried nursing him but it did not work. Just in case this happens again I was wondering if there are any suggestions on what to do.

I do try to keep mold out of the yard but it appears a possum got a few chicks & one maran hen so it left wings under the dog house. I did not know until too late when the pup flat bellied & went under dragging out wings beaks & a foot. I saw the roo go under a few times but he is young & was getting a little pecked I thought he was hiding. There was also a small piece of PB&J with mold on it under there. So I am sure he got in to it.

He was staggering around like a drunk & I brought him in.

I figured out it was a possum when the dogs killed it.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Sounds like everyone is doing well, I just started to soak some BOSS so I can make some fodder out of it, there is a really great thread on BYC talking about fodder and how to grow it, it sounds like a great way to get my chickens and rabbits greens all winter long at a great price. So I am trying it with some BOSS and then will go buy some winter wheat at the feed store, I would love to not have to go buy a big 50lb bag at what seems like too often btw my chicks, hens and rabbits, the rabbits especially go through it so fast, I need to get the babies butchered so I can stop feeding them :)

Anyone else grow fodder? I am thinking by Jan. I might have enough mealworms to start giving them some of them a couple times a week, they are growing quite a bit and are so easy, I think I will make room for them in a small closet I have though so they can reproduce even quicker in the warmer house :) It's a cool science experiment.

Do any fishermen know, do people use mealworms to ice fish?? My neighbor thought that was what they looked like, he fishes but had never heard them called mealworms before.

Happy to have this crappy weather instead of that crappy weather they are having out east, yikes. I will take the chances of tornadoes anyday rather than hurricanes. I have been watching the news and it is so sad.

Raz, where are you a Docent at?

Does anyone have a good place to get red wrigglers? I want to start growing them in my rabbit manure, wondered where to buy a lb or 2

Oh, botulism...

Best bet would be to get under there, clean it all out. I know, flat bellying it under there is going to be an icky job, but apparently one that needs to be done. Then you need to fence it off with chicken wire, fence, hardware cloth, something, too keep the chickens, possums, coons, dogs, other nasty critters from getting under there and using it as a convenient hidey hole, death trap, trash dump.

I do not have that... ANYWHERE. What it is, is someone downloaded a new program, could have been something little, and what it does is tag words, and those words will then lead you to advertisements.. Or some other... If you are using google chrome, you might have gotten it with the last upgrade. You can turn it off or remove it. I don't remember the name of it, but it has to do with shopping/shopper companion... or something... like that... UGH! I don't remember, BUT I know I had it happen when I did the google chrome, wasn't paying attention to the different screens, like you just keep clicking continue... but you didn't uncheck certain boxes and now you have crap you don't want...
