Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@Folly's place, I'm sorry I didn't acknowledge you before, but somehow I thought you and aart were the same since she answered the question I had posted after your comment. Any way, thanks for your welcome and your advice. I truly appreciated it.

I used to have a covered run. I loved it but it was my first building project and didn't last very well. I was just given a carport and tarp that I intend to use for part of a run in the future.

This week is off to a bad start with a self inflicted concussion. You've heard of running into doors, welL I was really moving and missed the door and smacked the door frame. So I'm off work for a week and can't do anything. Sitting still is very boring.

Today because I was home I was able to sell 12 Guinea fowl keets and two turkeys. So at least something good happened.
So we're both on injured reserve here. Ouch!!

Get well soon, everyone! aart and I are often (not always!) on the same page here, as you will see. My coop is built on an old building foundation, and the walls are at least 1/2" plywood with siding on top. Very solid, except if bears come, and then we'll add electric. My run is now covered with an actual roof, and it's great! Actually, the whole structure is now a coop, and I lost my mind and have increased the flock from 35 to 48 for the winter. Crazy, right? Twenty of the birds are bantams, so they don't count. Or something. Mary

Mary you just have a touch of Chicken Fever :D

Hi Fun Chicken, welcome to BYC and the Michigan thread. If you want to quote someone look down at the bottom right of their post and you will see three tabs. Im also looking for a couple bantam hens if someone has extra theyre looking to rehome in the Traverse city or Gaylord area. or maybe by Troy I have a neighbor that lives In that area and comes up here all of the time.

Mary,
I'll have to get with my neighbor and see when he's planning on coming back up here and see if he would be willing to pick them up. he usually makes a trip up here once or twice a month. Are they old enough to be okay w/o heat? my coop is insulated but not heated.
