Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

RaZ, you can move into that house. Chickens are allowed!!
I want lilacs, please!! Love them. Had a whole bunch at the other house, and none at the new!

Hi everyone! I plan to be at Chicken Stock and will be bringing a few red/red cuckoo chicks as well as some gorgeous Jubilee Orpington boys about 2.5 months old! I also have cream legbar egg ($35/dzn) if anyone is looking to add some blue eggs layers to their flock! I do have lavender orpingtons and isbars (green eggs) but won't have eggs for Saturday - if you are interested, I can always ship - or meet up - I'm in Dewitt!

I officially hate chickens. Four hens are broody. :barnie:he

Raz I feel your pain been dealing with broody hens for a couple months now. First one is running around w 3 chicks happy as can be. My last one broke a rotten egg under her last Saturday and there are no words to describe how bad the smell was. So I thought I would be nice and go get her some surrogate babies from FFH the next morning and she rejected them (yes I followed the normal procedure of removing fake eggs and putting babies under her after dark). She is no longer broody after setting for 6 weeks (first try was a dud too) so I now have 3 gold lace wynedot in a tote in my house! I now have 30 chickens! I only had 17 4 months ago.

I talked to Wynette, major bummer. Was hoping to get a few BCMs from her this year. Anyone reading this and not been to CS before? Bring a raffle table item, nothing big really. I always bring a pint of Maple Syrup I make. If you put something on the table you'll get a raffle ticket. Only one item needed to get an item. I have the sign-up book, raffle tickets, donation jar (used to reimburse a wonderful lady that reserves and pays for the pavilion), and assorted cups, plates, and plastic ware. See everyone Saturday!

Raz, lilacs are BEAUTIFUL weeds! I have maybe a dozen colors at least and love them! I'll try to bring some starts, and live near Perry for fall or spring digging opportunities. My three week old chicks are staying here for now, but some will be available later, when I can sort them out. I am planning to bring a few hens. Mary

Wynette is unable to make the picnic this year. But, Nancy is coming and bringing lav orpingtons chicks and Jubilee boys to sell. Kathy Pearl is coming, no chicks but lots of equipment to sell. She and her husband had to get out of the chicken business because of health reasons. Hope to see you all at the picnic!!
Any idea of how old those Lavender Orps are? I believe that was something that Amy wanted to get, and I'm strongly thinking bringing a crate with me so that I could pick up a couple of young pullets to add to the flock. Heck, I even managed to move my old coop this week, mostly to mow the weeds that had grown up in it and around it, but would be a good quarantine coop for a couple of younger birds.

Oh, does anybody want any plastic feed bags?? I've got a bunch of them here at the farm and some of them are horse feed bags as well. I know that there's usually somebody out there that wants them to use for shopping bags or some other crafty idea.
