Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Today mama hen moved, and I'm glad I was home this afternoon! She jumped out of the nest box (and this is the one and only time I'll try this!) with three dry chicks, leaving two in the box screaming, and one newly hatched wet chilled baby. :he I showed up and moved her and the dry chicks to their safe brooder area, and warmed the wet chick in the house with a hair dryer. Then I found another chick in the corner on the floor under the nest box, chilled but dry. All seven are now together, here's hoping they all do well. There were two unhatched eggs, both duds. Drama in the coop! Mary

OyVey!! Broody Mama Drama!
First time mama?
Hope she gets her shcicks together!

Me too, first time broody. Usually I move them to a big dog crate and all goes well, but this year, the hens gave up on their eggs when moved. That's why I left her in a nest box, in my 'coop annex' where she could be alone. Seven chicks, including the chilled baby who's not 100% yet. Mary
