Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'll keep that in mind when he finally gets to us. I kinda think he just does mostly metal barn roofs mostly. I'll just have to talk to him about it. Odds are if he doesn't do exactly what you want, he might know somebody who does. What exactly did you have in mind??

@bigmrg74 Metal roof on my very old barn. The last owners put shingles on it and they blow off in the yard. It is a very old barn that needs other foundation work too.

Congrats to you and Amy :ya When is the date?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Michigan Thread!!!!:love

Good morning! It's -5F this morning, and I'm not a fan! Who ordered this???
The snow and now sunshine is beautiful, though. It's not melting anytime soon.
I got a game cam for Christmas! Yeah!
Stay warm, everyone. Mary

Merry Christmas Mary! I have tried a couple of times to call in the past couple of months, but goes to your "voicemail" that isn't set up  :) . Hope all is well with you and yours, thinking about you in this cool weather we are having.

Ok so we tried a 50 watt aquarium heater for our water bucket with horizontal nipples. We are in SE MI so it's been negative temps at night and mornings. The water stayed warm enough but the nipples were freezing over night. I got them thawed in the am with warm water but by 11 they were frozen again. Possibly cause the chickens hid in the coop till about 9-9:30 and I had thawed the nipples around 8. So now we have a gallon and a half heated dog bowl and I'm worried about them dipping their wattles in there and getting frostbite. I have 10 hens / pullets. None with huge wattles. And an EE rooster with smallish rooster wattles. Should I just deal with the aquarium heater and unfreeze the nipples a few times a day on these super cold days? Have people here had issues with chickens wattles getting frostbite from their waterer?

Do you have a thermometer in water?
Are your negative temps with windchill?
Is waterer outside or inside?
Is bucket insulated?
