Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Just had a hawk attack. It swooped down and tried to take a call duck. The duck is fine and the hawk was chased away. Good thing our livestock dog was out watching over her birds. Funny thing is she is a maltese/cairn terrier whose name is Zeva.

Oh my!!!

So glad the duck is okay!!!

The apples look sooo good. But buying apples is just heart breaking, spending a fortune on apples that end up having bad spots in a day or the skin looks scaly. I miss going out and picking them when I want them.

Glad your duck is ok, Theron.

What a beautiful day today was! Been outside cleaning chicken coops all day... in a t-shirt!

Thanks Laura for asking. Feel a bit better, but still stuffy and coughing.

Hope you all got to enjoy today.

Well, got the run covered. I think I did a pretty good job for a nut case who just flies by the seat of her pants and hopes it all works out in the end.

I still have to finish the tops obviously, but! They now have a nice snow free place for the winter.Trying to decide if I should run a bit of fencing around the top to discourage any critter from trying to get thru the tarp. I haven't had anything get on top of the coops yet. Yet being the key word there...

Seven eggs from eight layers today  That's the most eggs in a day for us - six of them just started laying and the other two began in August. There's still almost six hours for an eighth egg...but I won't make any bets since they're already on the roost. I do have one though that leaves an egg for me before daylight most mornings.

Ugh, I just spent $80 on a chicken I'm picking up at the Ohio Nationals this weekend.

Thank goodness I just sold those two Squawkers parrot toys on ebay for $100 each this past week to pad my wild chicken spending-spree. Oh, and I should also probably be grateful for a very understanding husband...
