Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

We were happy to be at the chickenstock event. It's good to put faces to user names, we really enjoyed the talking and the time of fellowship together. I am willing to to talk genetics, I am not an expert, but have enjoyed learning what I do know.

Anyone know where I can find a home for a Rooter? (not a meat farm though) He's a 3-month-old Rhode Island Red, city won't let us keep him. We are fond of him and want to find him a good home.

Welcome to BYC!
You've already gotten good suggestions in your intro thread.

What kind of bird is it?
Pics would help.
If he's something special you might be ale to find him a viable position.
But most males go to meat, all mine do, tho I was able to sell a few this year.

Welcome to byc and the Michigan thread :)

The unfortunate reality is that most extra male birds and up as dinner, since they serve no useful purpose and can be a pain in the hiney to keep. That doesn't mean you might not be able to find a home for him though, as art said maybe post a few pictures of him and breed if you know what he is.

Oh yuck! I wanted eggs for dinner. Cracked 2 into the skillet and they had embryos. The third one was rotten. Stinky rotten. Now the whole kitchen stinks in the heat.

I hope my customers didn't get bad ones too. Looks like some refunds are in order. :he

Yuck! I've been collecting eggs as often as possible, and candling some, which I usually don't do. Twice or three times daily when I'm home! Just now, 7:15pm, one of my Wyandottes layed an egg right in front of me!
I'm pitching any that were out there more than one day, or if I don't know.
Mary
