Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hope things are ok for your pup today Raz. Good news about the garage! Finally some progress to move forward!

Our old boy Gino is in the lumps n bumps stage, just had a tennis ball sized lump taken off his shoulder along with some muscle. He's doing fairly well for a mastiff at 12 yrs. Though we have to be really careful with keeping him from over excitement and temperatures. He has a paralyzed pharynx now which will eventually lead to his demise, if something else doesn't first.

I'm so behind this year on getting any winterizing done. We have to repair/replace fencing and I have to re-floor and clean the coop..... ugh... of course the weather isn't cooperating and I really don't want to work in the rain.

So, instead, I have been "wasting" time making a Halloween costume. I've always wanted to make one, so I'm just doing it! It's a witch of course... which is "fitting" (per my husband) though I'm not sure what he means by that! ;) It's been rather therapeutic for me, shredding up an old costume to make it. The fun part was making a lump for the back... I am only about $85.00 (prosthetic nose/chin and makeup) in to it and most of it was stuff I had laying around. The costume is done, walking stick (no broom) is done, and tonight I make the shoes. I have to get it all done tonight as we have a Halloween costume contest at work tomorrow.

Costume is awesome!!
Glad the contractors came, RaZ. Must of been quite a relief to see them pulling into your driveway.
Hope your goldie is alright. It's hard when they get older. Dogs are so special, bringing so much joy and comfort to us.

Happy Halloween Week peeps! Just doing some light reading like from the end of August till now. Busy summer selling critters, growing stuff, making wine, and now doing the "let's get ready for winter thing". Hope everyone is doing well.

She didn't make it.
Oh, I'm so sorry RaZ! :hugs
Didn't make it thru the night?
Had that happen once...better than having the vet do it, in a way.

Condolences....
We know from the minute we let them into our hearts, that one day they will break them.
The joy we gain by loving them will, in time, once again outweigh the sadness they can bring to our lives.

Thank you. The other dogs are pretty subdued today.
At least she went peacefully in her sleep.

On a positive note, the truss crew was here again today. Garage door headers are up. The walls have been squared and trued. They decided that they needed a lift to set the trusses. Well duh! :he
So I'm back to "tomorrow".

Still, it was a productive day. I got a fallen tree cut to size. A bunch of crap cleaned up around the yard. As a bonus, a flock of 6 wild turkey came in and were interested in my Tom. Silly birds hung around while I was cutting wood and the garage guys were working and making noise. It was as if they were watching us all do chores.
