Oh, yeah, most of my shoes are slip on....since my hand surgery 9 years ago.
Doesn't work so well with winter footwear.
I can relate. After my hand surgery last January, I have about 10 - 15% function. Makes doing things quite difficult. At least the pain is gone.
 
Only 15%...what did they do!?

I had my thumb/wrist joint rebuilt using index finger tendon...took 18 months to get max function and strength.

Radial row carpectomy. They removed a line of wrist bones that were rubbing against each other. I can no longer bend or twist my hand. Doc said it might take 2-3 years to get motion back. I'm waiting. :pop

HolyF.....They didn't replace them?
That's basically what they did here too but removed just one of those bones and replaced it with rolled up index finger tendon cut at mid forearm.

Nope. The idea is that the void fills with scar tissue.
Sounds like you had something different.
