You should get Lakota's rabies vaccine updated. Exposure to a known or possible rabid animal means a rabies booster; call your vet today or Monday. Any raccoon saliva on him and you?

Sadly, I am unable to do either thing.Randy, it's not about 'up to date', it's about having a booster done anyway. It would be best to keep that raccoon very cold and have it tested for rabies anyway; your vet may know who to call,, usually it's Animal Control, or the DNR. Wrap it and chill.

Good for you on the no knee pain. There was a big ole raccoon in the yard last night. Lakota, the devil dog, took control of the situation. That raccoon would get about 6 feet up the tree and the pup would jump up and drag it back to the ground. I watched for about 30 minutes before getting cold and coming it.
I found no sign of injury this morning so I'm guessing the raccoon either made it up the tree last night and moved on today. Just as long as he doesn't come back
