Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It got dark as night long before the sun set but the only damage is a bunch of branches on the ground. Just a mess to clean up and put in the fire pit. Cooled off quite a bit but it is sunny and in the low 80s now. Not too bad. The old dog likes it cooler.

Well I am hoping that this weekend will bring an end to a journey one of my pullets. She was injured pretty badly about 5 weeks ago, by escaping and trying the wrong way to get back into the pen. She got herself wedged into a spot in between the run and the coop. Since she couldn't get away, the other chickens pecked her head really badly.

I separated her and got the wound all fixed up and she spent a couple of weeks in the barn. Finally once she was scabbed over sufficiently enough, I sectioned off a portion of the run and gave her a house next to the rest of the flock. So they could interact and get used to each other again.

Once the scab fell mostly off and feathers started coming back, I started bringing her old friends into her pen. One at a time, and only brought over a new one once they started roosting together at night. This morning I was able to get a third roommate into her pen. Next I will just let all 4 go into the main run, and hopefully she will be accepted. I have 12 total chickens 6 one year old, and 6 I bought in April from the farm store. I fixed where she escaped, and have plenty of obstacles in the run, plus it is big enough to get away. So hopefully after the initial pecking order stuff is done, she will be accepted again.
