Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

The city library here is like that too. Only government groups that have a millage For the library can use the library services for free. My Township has one, but the next one over doesn't. I do think you're allowed to use the internet for up to 30 minutes though
Yeppers!
Libraries aren't 'free', they are paid for with property taxes...
...and I always vote yes for that millage.
Luckily my township is part of the county library system, which is pretty darn good.

Yet this particular library offers free wifi to anyone with a laptop or smart phone. No library card required. Like I said before, this a very strange community.

I did mention at the Concast office that there should be a programme for elderly or low income people to have some kind of access to the web, especially since everything is done online these days. Low and behold they DO have one. I qualified for the $40/month basic internet. It's a promotion that Covid inspired. However, the rate goes up $16 every year after the first. And the speed is too slow for video chats like "virtual doctor visits" that have popped up.

But rather than complain about not having TV or high speed whatiz, I'm just happy that I can get back to this group and the other ones I enjoy.

It was a beautiful day here. I worked it though so didn't see much sun. But it was a good day to work. I scored a produce display endcap that is going to make a wonderful nesting platform. Plus some nice wire racks too that they were going to throw out. I'll take some photos tomorrow in the day light and show you what I got. The racks are for peg board so I'll have to buy a sheet of that but they will certainly help get the garage organized. It's amazing the amount of good stuff that gets scrapped there. So much of it can be reclaimed or recycled or put to other use.

It sure was a gorgeous day! It got up to 76 in the green house this afternoon. I can't find my max/min thermometer, so I don't know how cold it got last night, but it was 14 at the house.

I went to close up the coop at 5:30 (sunset + 5ish minutes) and the chickens were still outside because it was still so light out. Lots of light in the sky and snow on the ground. Maybe the girls will take that as a sign to start laying soon?!?!

While I was cleaning the coop, one of them came in and stared at the fake eggs in the nesting box as if to say, "Huh. Those looks kind of familiar. Wonder where I saw them before?"

I had first cataract surgery Wednesday, and can't do a lot physically for a week, until next Wed. Then, the other cataract will be done Jan. 20th, so another week of restricted activity. Not normal for me, and lets just say, I'm more stir crazy than usual! The first eye is great, and it's going to be worth it, but there's always too much to do, and not now.
We are getting eggs, and have chicks ordered for mid-April, so looking forward to spring!
Mary
