Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Robins sighted today in mid-southern MI. Not sure if they blew in with the storm, or if they are really back already?!

Still snowing here!!! We got about 6-7inches where we are and some pretty good drifting. The wind is still whipping the snowflakes around and looks like the snow is sticking around a majority of the day.

In a last ditch effort yesterday...I got plastic sheeting up on the run and was able to get an extension cord out there for the heater base. Thank goodness...ladies came out this morning and thought they in another world. At least there will be no wind and snow gettting in and water isnt freezing every hour:celebrate

Stay warm everyone and have a terrific weekend!

welcome to those that have been off for awhile.
got at least 4in. so far and still coming down.
we have Blue birds most of the winter. nearby apple orchards and trees with berry's help to keep them happy. Have not seen any robins at the feeder yet.
Enjoy the weather all you snow lovers. Not sure I dare take my dog for a walk yet. dirt road, plows not out here yet. People tend to go to fast and visibility is poor. Best to wait till the plow's get down the street.

Most the snow went north of me, got maybe 3".
OK more than that....hard to tell with the wind.
Coop path was at least 5-6" most the way...shed porch only a couple inches.
Birds are coop bound for now.
There was a bit of snow blowing into coop from somewhere, just a few flakes in the air.

Snow is blowing into the run because the wind is whipping it all around. It was 24 degrees when I got up and down to 18 now. That's balmy compared to what Terri deBoer is promising for the rest of the week!

Hubby went to work and said some of the local roads were almost drifted shut. SO. VERY. GLAD. I don't have to be out there in it. Driving in this kind of weather is incredibly stressful for me. I've had a slide off, a roll over, been rear ended twice, and thought I was might die once when I was a passenger. All winter driving stuff. I consider myself very lucky to have walked away from all of them, with at worst a minor case of whiplash.

If you have to go out, please be safe.

Lots of snow here, most of it moving sideways, so totals are hard to guess. I would say at least 5" so far.

Outside my window at the office is a fenced-in storage area. I let the nightshade grow over it, and by fall it is covered with with berries. Yesterday a boisterous, noisy flock of Cedar Waxwings swooped in and gobbled up many of them. They were only feet away outside my window - quite a sight.

So it's probably the coldest, snowiest day my chickens have ever seen. Is that a reason to take the day off from laying?!? I really should have had two eggs by now. :barnie:rant

It's also the coldest, snowiest day we've had yet this winter. That IS a reason for me to take the day off from... whatever icky chore I thought I might get done today.
