Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

For making yogurt, I've been buying the organic ultrapasturized milk, and bringing it to a boil anyway, although maybe not necessary. Probably overkill, but fine with me.
Never would I use unpasturized milk! Microbiology cured me...
Whole chicken in the IP? Terrific here too.
No bunnies here, sorry. They are adorable, but one more thing, not happening.
Anyone else vaccinated for C-19? We get our second dose soon. Wonderful! Reducing risk is so good!

Getting my second dose Friday. Trying to convince my Mom to try to contact the Lenawee County Health Department to get herself set up with the vaccine, but she really wants to wait to get it from UM hospital as she thinks that they would have a better record of her issues. Pretty sure that there's not really an issue, and its not like UM can't look at her card that you get that's from the CDC and scan it into their records as well the next time she's there in Ann Arbor. From what I've heard, its a much less of a wait at Lenawee, and UM is basically a lottery at getting vaccines there.

This colder weather can get over itself. Had a couple of days where it took treats to convince the girls to come out of the coop for a bit, and there was one day that I didn't even bother to really try to convince them because the wind was blowing enough even with my wind breaks. Should probably add some more bedding to my coop as well tomorrow. probably a wheel borrow of sawdust. Help to suck up moisture. Most of the leaves that I put in there back in the fall are broken down, and its mostly straw currently. When the weather warms up, I clean it all out, dump it in the spreader and spread it out really thin out on the field. Figure with the straw, leaves, chicken poop, and assorted food stuff that the girls didn't eat up like potato peelings, there's plenty of good stuff for the field flora and fauna to work on breaking down into the soil. a little something for everything.

I agree that sooner is better than later for getting the vaccine, and anywhere that's sooner is good.
I added shavings to the coop today, as it's too cold to bother to actually clean it out. Deeper bedding is fine.
Maybe not as chilly later next week? That would be good!
Idiot horses had a 'moment' yesterday, and pretzeled one of the gates near the barn. Thankfully, it happened late afternoon, and we saw it, and nobody escaped. We had an extra gate from another area, and it's now set up there. No injuries, no horses in the road, all okay. A very close call though.

One very early morning many years ago, it was soooo foggy. I was driving to work in the dark, about 20 mph, thinking I was acting like a little old lady. Suddenly, three horses appeared, walking up the middle of the road. Had I been going faster, I couldn't have stopped in time.

I still drive like a little old lady. But now I'm older, so it fits. :lau
