I used insulation that looks like bubble wrap with foil on one side, covered on the inside with Luan, which is very thin plywood, to keep the birds from pecking at it.

Do you mean something like this?I used insulation that looks like bubble wrap with foil on one side, covered on the inside with Luan, which is very thin plywood, to keep the birds from pecking at it.
That would be good.I read somewhere that I should extend the roof 12" out.
Yes that's it. I applied it to all the walls and the underside of the roof (this helps a lot with heat from the summer sun). The walls were then covered with Luan, but the underside of the roof was left uncovered- the white color really lightens the coop. Foil side goes outward.Do you mean something like this?

Can you put a gutter on the low side of the roof to carry the rain away? One side will be towards the house and I do not like the idea of pouring more water into the edge of the house foundation. Then leaves me the other side, right inside the run. The girls will have to learn henwheeling in the mud.
Nice set up. I had a few pointers from there that I can make sure I am covering on mine. However, I am in love with the nesting boxes. The round entrance is like for royalty hens! Would it be ok if I kind of copy off of it? I like the idea of being inside an just an opening from the outside just for lazy days. That would be good.
See pics on my coop page.
