Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Today was the meeting of the littles and the bigs!!! The littles were a little freaked out….and the bigs….well let’s just say some are taking it better than the others. Liz is NOT happy at all and is letting me know. They are screaming really loud!!! Kind of funny, but I’m sure everyone will settle in. Hopefully after a few weeks they will all be friends! Thanks for the input everyone and especially @aart!

they seem to be on opposite sides of the coop for now but surely once everyone gets used to each other, everyone will calm down. Liz is the bully of the bunch and hopefully she will be kind when they are finally integrated.

Mom and kids out today for the first time, it's not super warm but in the sun it's nice. Tomcat would dearly love a chick of his own to play with.

Happy Solstice, everyone.

I put one of the tarps back on the roof of the run. All the rain has been good for everything, even the dirt in the run. Ok, one thing it was terrible for: the big galvanized pan that I had sand in for a dust bath. It had an inch of water in it, and REEKED! The gypsy moth caterpillar poop had turned to green slime. :sick

I removed it, hosed it out, and it's drying on the porch, under cover from caterpillar poop. I'll have to go dig up some more sand to fill it with.

Tomorrow I'm going to call an arborist to see about treatment for the :mad::duc:rantbugs!

Hi everyone!
Sally, so sorry for your Gypsy moth caterpillar situation. I bet it will not be fun to dig more sand.
@1muttsfan They are so beautiful!

Had a long day today. (and when not) Decided to bathe all of the chickens. One by one and dried them up with a blow drier. Though about using the curling iron to make them frizzle but could not find it, :lau
Then moved to the coop. Cleaned the jeebers out of it just in case. New sand with a little DE inside the floor, New PDZ all over. Got them in early today because it is drizzling and I am not going to wait until it is raining and have the floor collect any water through having the front door open while they decide to come inside. Found 2 tiny eggs today. One brown and another one lighter: not brown but not white. It is kind of pinkish. But the really tiny one that was on the nest was not correct. It had a hole and I saw it but did not look really good and put it in my pocket of my dress and it spilled inside. So I grabbed the remaining and gave it to them. I mix eggs shells in their feed and they have oyster shells available as well as grit in different containers. What can I do to make them eat more of it?

I know they were kind of upset at me for grabbing each one of them and giving them a bath and blow dry them and them put DE on them but they forgot and were waiting for oats. Once it began drizzling, I went out with umbrella and as soon as I opened it, the ran away and Sophia began clucking bloody murder. Of course I was telling her to calm down because it was only an umbrella but they did not liked to see me with that thing walking around them. I think they will be fine. I just want to be able to get more wood and finish the run and of course, begin to worry about the cover of the run, lol

I miss interacting with all of you. @aart and @RaZ , hope you guys had a good Father's Day. and Happy Father's Day to any Father in the group.

Love ya bunches!
~Hugs~and~Kisses~
